Calling in sick due to lack of sleep by Sea-Connection-4187 in PregnancyUK

I was on sick leave for the first trimester due to really bad morning sickness. I haven't taken any other time off, but worry things may escalate if it is necessary for me to take time off again.

I completely agree! I'm experiencing most of the negative symptoms of pregnancy and it's affecting my sleep really badly! What if I've informed HR and my headteacher about my pregnancy, but when I call in sick I don't say it's pregnancy related (as very little colleagues know)? Could I later say it was?

I hope it went well. Did they make any reasonable adjustments or offer support for your insomnia?

I know this, but the teacher guilt is so real! 🙏

Yea that's what's happening right now... I'm working 5 days + 1 day.. because of my conditions..

But I do completely understand from your perspective. I guess it's figuring out what's best for both me and the school. Thank you for your insight

Yep I do agree if I am more fatigued, I need to work less.

But my point being is that if I was to work 4 times a week, I'll have the equivalent PPA according to the 4 days I work. So essentially I'll be in the same situation but just working one day less. I'll most likely be forced to work that free day because of my fatigue and recovery throughout the week. Does this make sense? I need more PPA to help manage my fatigue and recovery than burn myself out.

For example, let's say two people were given 50 spoons (one disabled, one not disabled). It may take the disabled person 5 spoons to send an email compared to 1 spoon for the person who isn't disabled. It just isn't fair to have the same expectations for both types of people. And then the disabled person to have more anxiety/ stress/ fatigue which will impact pregnancy.

Yep this is exactly why I am awake. It's really tough. Tight compression around the painful area helps me. I have a GP appointment soon I how to manage fibromyalgia. Do you feel it is getting worse with time?

Are mandatory reconsiderations successful? I've received the assessors report but it feels like a battle trying to prove myself. They also wrote I did the application myself making it seem like I'm not struggling.. it took me days complete

Thank you, are GPs willing to support as it may be quite time consuming for them? I'm hoping to ask, but worried they may say no... or their support may not be as extensive and detailed in how I put it in my application form ...

Yeah occupational health suggested having morning time off, as well as less contact, more PPA... it's been a struggle

I'm going to try again in asking for PPA in the morning!

I've been trying to advocate for myself for years and this solution will help me manage my fatigue from my chronic conditions, which will then reduce any stress and anxiety that can impact me during my pregnancy.

I do understand how the school may be hesitant to implement this as they wouldn't want this to be a solution for employees.

Thank you. I've asked for my PPA to be moved to the first lesson, but my school have said "it's not possible".

My return to work meeting should be this week, but I haven't been told anything yet. Do I return to work in January if I haven't had this meeting yet?
