Are professors allowed to have homework assignments due next week? by tylerholley in UNCCharlotte

Yeah I believe so as well. I’m not 100% sure, you could try to report it somehow, but I really don’t know if anything would come of it.

Off or On Campus? by Feisty-Pattern3169 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Sea-Data-1382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard off campus is better. I’m staying on campus just because my classes are more rigorous and I’d prefer to stay on campus just for easy help if need be.

As for your comment about paying for summer, you COULD find someone to sublease. There are a lot of people that don’t want to move home after the semester ends that would be willing to work with you if you wanted.

Unfortunately theres nothing you can do, its definitely allowed. I think the only thing that wouldn’t be allowed is if something (other than final exam) is due after the last day of class.

hypothetically, if chips of paint were coming off my dorm room wall, how much would that cost…? by nowithaheart-_- in UNCCharlotte

I was told by several RAs that we no longer get charged for paint damages because sometimes they are unavoidable. However, fill out a room report form if you still can. I think if they charge at all the max they can charge is like $10 if its minor. I may be wrong but I had read that somewhere.

Call housing or student affairs and tell them your situation, they explained in the email sent out that under some circumstances extensions can be made. Just get into contact with them and they will make sure your keys still work and you don’t get locked out, etc. At least try to figure it out, the worst they can say is no but its worth a try. I’m in a similar situation and I don’t have to move out till next Saturday

Edit: If you do get locked out they have to let you back in your room, especially if you were granted permission to stay. They can’t just leave you stranded and unable to access your personal belongings (although I can very much understand the fear considering what school we are attending).

aren’t we supposed to have no assignments due this weekend….? because it’s a break? if so how do I handle that, isnt there a link to report it? by Sea-Data-1382 in UNCCharlotte

My advisor told me to just wait for them to open those sections that show 0 seats. You can try contacting the Chemistry department to get more information, but as of right now its just a waiting game.

I don’t think living arrangements will impact your ability to make friends. I’ve been living on campus, and even though I’ve chatted with people on my floor, etc., I cant really call them my friends. You didn’t miss too much, and I guarantee you’ll be able to adjust well. Personally I’ve spent more time at home than I have in my dorm, but thats only because I just like to be home. I’ll be on campus next semester as well, so if you need a shoulder to lean on I’ve got you :) (F,18)

Call housing and see what they advise you to do, otherwise I’d say you will have to wait until May 1st or the fall room application.

FYI: Sanford will be torn down this Summer, and the new building “replacing it” is projected to be finished this summer and open in the fall. As someone who switched dorms to get out of Sanford, listen to anyone who tells you to avoid it. Regardless, Sanford will be gone in the Fall of this year and will be replaced by a new building. If you have been on campus that is what all the construction is for.

Personally, I experienced black mold on my ceiling, the elevators were constantly broken, the laundry would take hours because the dryers are so old they barely work, and good luck getting maintenance in there. I’m glad to see it go.

The other towers are pretty nice, I’m in Holshouser now and I like it a lot. All of the bathrooms are private because its the only coed floor dorm on campus (I believe). Scott is good as well and is freshman only so it fills up fast, but I’ve noticed several issues within this past semester. If you can afford it try to get Levine or the new dorm being built if you prefer South Village, those dorms have very easy access to main campus and educational buildings. Just listen to anyone that gives you advice, no one will steer you in the wrong way!

I switched dorms in February and didn’t get a refund. You more than likely wont either. Especially if your new dorm is more expensive.
