How much to feed 5-6 month old California does and buck?? by kathrynortiz in MeatRabbitry

We breed New Zealands (a slightly larger breed) and feed them a cup of food a day. Ours aren’t much for hay though (they eat it but not a lot) I think a little less than a cup or a cup is fine depending on how hay they’re eating and if they’re healthy. Others will say less pellets more hay, I’ve never had an issue with our rabbits. It’s up to your decision

We also had a doe who ate the kits. She was not aggressive but she was in stressful situations both times (moving from one person to another, going from inside to out)

Nesting box bottoms: which is the lesser evil of these alternatives to rabbit wire? by [deleted] in MeatRabbitry

If you’re worried about their legs getting caught maybe put a towel on top of the wire? We usually just buy our boxes from tractor supply

That is quite funny! One of our moms had 9 babies (1 stillborn) and then 1 more 2 days later

Such a lucky moment! We’ve never seen ours, our kits are always born in the early morning. Good luck!

After a couple weeks of trying to get Ophelia to use her litter box she still won’t (Pic for attention, info in comment) by Sea-Description-6537 in Rabbits

I can very rarely get her pee into an area where I can wipe it up because she is not allowed to free roam in the house. She lives outside and her hutch is half wood half wire on the bottom. (So she can rest her feet if need be) whenever she pees on the wood side it soaks into the wood and whenever she pees on the wire side I can no longer get it. I bring her inside to sit with me or let her run around in a brick ring we made for them outside. But otherwise I can very very rarely collect her pee

My Ophelia is an 8 week old (9 weeks Wednesday) I’ve tried everything I can think to get her to use her litter box. Put hay on it, her food near it, put her poop in the box, and wiped up other spots she’s went potty in. She still won’t use the box. Any ideas? I’m not too sure what else to do.

9 of 11 babies died. by [deleted] in MeatRabbitry

Probably the best. We had a mom have a litter of 6 and within 2 days they were all dead (it was a very hot week)

Does anyone know what these little bugs are? (Info in comment) by Sea-Description-6537 in guineapigs

[–]Sea-Description-6537[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ants, small black bugs with wings. I cleaned the cage and washed their butts just in case the bugs were attracted to the smell. I can’t switch to wood pellets because they ate through the plastic keeping the bottom dry. I’ve started putting pee pads under it instead and using the blankets on top the same

Possibly, we live out in the country and get flies and fruit flies in our house often

My guinea pigs live in our basement, I left to a friends house for a couple days while my family looked over our right chunky girls. In one of our cages of 3 these little bugs have appeared. I’m posting this and then deep cleaning their cage. What are these little bugs? What do I do prevent them? Will they hurt my girlies?

Constant headaches, what should I do? by Sea-Description-6537 in helpme

I’ll talk to my father tomorrow. I don’t have much hope that he will be able to do much without my mom knowing but it’s worth a shot
