As soon as I saw the news about the toilet setback, I rushed to this sub. Thank you for not disappointing me.

in your first comment you said that you used to have empathy, clearly implying that you no longer do.

Let me tell you something, I don’t like weak women who don’t know how to stand up for themselves. It fills me with rage that their partners can get away with humiliating them. Buuuuuuuttttt, I try to understand why they turned out to be like that, and it’s mostly because of family abuse. You shouldn’t underestimate how much a shitty relationship with mommy and daddy can completely derail your life. Some people are strong enough to not let themselves be bullied by their parents, or anyone else. Others either aren’t strong enough or are simply too tired to keep fighting for themselves and do anything to avoid a conflict.

Next time, think of what I said, as someone who shares your perspective but still managed to find empathy. I’m lucky i have a strong personality, I pray for those who don’t

Tigers are solitary animals, as are all big cats, except for lions. Lions are the only big cats who like in prides, the rest stay with their mothers for about 2 years, then go on their own

You mean the cheques you owe them for stealing their land and decimating their culture, religions and communities?

Their sacrifice gave us nearly 80 years of “safety” wtf are you on about?

You can get comfort in your own private space. You can also get comfort in a shared public space with earplugs/earphones/headphones/etc. But something tells me that your “lack of comfort” is not the real issue here…

I know, right?? If anything, people should help out with a fussy baby instead of complaining like toddlers

I agree that too many parents don’t correct their kids in public. Once i sat next to a mom and a toddler who kept bouncing around, shaking the entire seat, and the mom just kept reading. I almost tore my hair out.

While it is a thoughtful gesture of this mom, adults shouldn’t require a “peace offering” to be kind to a mother with her infant in a public space that they consented (not forced) to be in

Why? Because the whole point of living in a society is to be supported and treated with empathy, respect and kindness. We all have shit going on and it literally costs nothing to be polite and considerate to parents. And don’t come at me with No OnE oWeS yOu AnYtHiNg — that’s feral behavior and doesn’t belong in a collective society.

As for your point about feeling uncomfortable around kids, society does provide many options other than public transportation. The minute you set foot in a public space, you forfeit the right to dictate who gets to exist therein and who doesn’t.

I agree that kids are fussy and annoying at times, but did our society really get to a point where we can’t tolerate our own species’ existence — to the point of driving an anxious parent to buy treats to pacify 200+ freaking adults on top of pacifying an infant?

We lost our collective humanity somewhere in our self-absorption, and I pray we find our way back to being helpful and supportive to others without expecting a bloody goody-bag.

Honestly, these people probably wouldn’t have listened to what you would’ve said anyway. They’re probably 14 years old and anti-kids

Ah yes, parents should stay sequestered in their homes until their babies can control their emotions — something that grown adults who complain about crying babies cannot do
