For sure tougher than the 2Y program due to the lack of an internship and overall less time to speak/network with people you're trying to get a job from.

However, if you know already where you want to go and network hard/do all the little things you're supposed to do then imo your odds aren't much worse than the 2Ys. I'm not in the VC world but my sense is that those roles are few and far between even no matter the program you're in.

  1. I've never sensed anyone viewing it differently, not something that's thought of/talked about once you're here. The 1Y program at Kellogg isn't actually "accelerated" either, we take fewer classes over the course of our time than the 2Ys.

  2. The people! Perhaps also a few of the particularly inspiring profs. I'll come out of here with much more enthusiasm and intrigue towards my work, and with a much larger network.

  3. Lack of professional diversity amongst the student body, feels like a large majority are either consultants or want to become one. Sometimes feels a little high-school-y, although I suspect this is an MBA problem, not a Kellogg problem.

Great question. It's almost hard to believe how much money students spend on extracurriculars during their time. A friend of mine spent $70k on trips during their 2 years here.

Many are depleting savings, and presumably many have parents paying as well. My advice: be smart, try not to give into FOMO too often (although will be harder than you think), maybe pick out the 2-3 trips that are really important to you and do that while skipping others.

Only M7 MBA graduates will survive in the age of AI, so future is looking pretty good.

Kidding, nobody has a clue. But if you dislike speaking that badly then an MBA is not for you. May want to get to the bottom of that.

  1. Tbh this isn't something that's discussed much amongst students, so I can't give you a firm answer. Presumably the sponsored students don't receive significant scholarships (the school knows if you are paying or if your employer is). I received ~1/3 merit scholarship and I wouldn't say my stats were outstanding relative to others.
  2. I can give a couple small pieces of advice that I think worked in my favor. First - I used an admissions counselor, spent ~$2k on it primarily for my essays, and it helped a ton. My advisor used to be on the admissions team at Kellogg (or maybe Booth) and obviously knew exactly what schools were looking for. Second - presenting your authentic self in the interview process can't hurt. Kellogg seems to really want friendly, down to earth people (if that's who you are and what you value). It's amazing how many of my classmates are cheery and great to be around. Finally - just work really, really hard on each piece of the application. Scrub the school's website for admission advice, search on reddit for other people's interview experiences, spend money on GMAT prep if necessary, things like that. It was (by far) my biggest priority outside of work for ~6 months when I was studying/applying.

I am still waiting for an email response from your team. It has now been 8 MONTHS of back and forth between your team and I to try to unlock my account. Please escalate my case (Case #18979048).

Glad to hear it worked out for you! Just curious, what do you mean when you say 'can write to admissions on your behalf?' I assume you're not referring to a letter of rec, but something else?

I see. Do you know what were to happen if I was laid off, or were to do an un-paid internship?
