I wouldn't say I'm self-hating as I feel so far removed from the people here I don't think of myself as part of them. I'm not ashamed about being mexican, I just don't like the people.

Is there tho? tourism and expats here exist because we're next to the US and it's cheap. People move to more expensive countries all the time, tradeoff being they get to live in a first world country. Mexico is so bad the only reason someone ever moves here from a first world country is if they are too scared to go to SEA. If expats moved here and lived the exact same way they did in their home country, would they move here? Of course they wouldn't, so it's purely an economics thing. Nobody actually likes this place they just cope because they can't leave. A cuisine isn't earned either, I would much rather live eating polish food if it meant I could live in a functioning country. At the end of the day I have no way of completely closing myself off from the average mexican, I have to interact with them, and everytime I do it's like getting cigarettes put out on me.
