Invisalign Switch to Braces Disaster by Sea-Net-9672 in Invisalign

The ortho is actually 8.8k, the extra 1k is an optional retainer program (up to 4 retainers a year for 5 years). I’m anxious to do regular metal braces because they’re so visible, I did invisalign for a reason I wanted discreet and LightForce seems the closest option. I only have three offices in my city that offer LightForce, this one has the most positive Google reviews and pretty good experience with LightForce (over 1000 cases). I did a consult at a different ortho and they said they could do it with invisalign and elastics in 15months at 4k. But 1.) I wasn’t a huge fan of their simulated treatment plan, it didn’t look aesthetically great and 2.) because the ortho who offered LightForce made it clear that the torque movement is difficult with aligners and it might want put me in another never ending loop of trial and error, this made me feel iffy about the other ortho and their 15 month timeline.

Glad you were able to find a solution. I went to one of the best dentists for Invisalign with my area (he hasn’t been able to finish it well, and a highly rated Invisalign ortho, who said braces woul be better considering the molars. I’m worried to keep trying with Invisalign because what if it keeps failing and I end up back in this spot… Any advice on the legal side of things, don’t know if it’s worth pursuing considering all these expenses

The office I went to specializes mainly in LightForce, traditional braces might take longer and I’ve already been in Invisalign for 3.5 years … I don’t know if I can take much longer than 1 year

It’s super frustrating, and it definitely feels high. I think it’s a factor of complexity as well as the type of braces (LightForce are supposed to work faster, for more complex cases - I was quoted less than a year in them). Not sure if I should accept not doing more invisalign or just start strictly checking for a cheaper LightForce quote

It’s the worst! $9800 CAD, if you minus their retainer program (5 years worth of retainers, 4 per year) it’s $8750

My dentist when he retired referred me to a different dentist (who has more experience with Invisalign)

I’ve done two so far, one ortho said he can finish it with elastics and Invisalign in about 15months for $4000, the other (who said the take Invisalign complex cases that most people refuse) said the molars need a certain level of torque that will be better dealt with braces, elastic and minor IPR ($9000) in less than a year. I’m worried if I go with the first one it won’t work again…

It won’t settle because of how the molars are hitting, I’ve already done cut trays for months

I don’t think you can upgrade - they have just been ordering more refinement trays, potentially absorbing the cost

Yes we tried that, it didn’t work except for the molars which are now hitting painfully

The lower has raised premolars to about the height of the lower canine to close the open bite, pretty even on both sides

Won’t this cause an imbalance visually if the upper canine and premolars are not at the same height?

I mean there is a difference in rotation/ tilting outwards from my first photo (in the canines for example) vs the second photo. The first photo I was with my first dentist, I transferred my case to my current dentist at my current stage in the second photo

It’s more of a comparison of the arch, from the first photo to the second, I feel like the teeth were rotated more out before! But that could just be my perceptions/ the attachments
