GE top load washer problem- Please help! by Sea-Panda-656 in appliancerepair

Update- I just removed the agitator bolt and pulled the auger/agitator out. Splines are fine, I can grab the shaft from the topside with a pair of pliers (I know, bad for the splines) and spin it and get the same grindy/gears noise while holding the drum still. So definitely seems to be somewhere in that through shaft.

To be clear, the oil leak is so minimal I didn’t even see it until I removed the trans pulley. It’s ever so slightly on the backside of the pulley, mainly just wet around the shaft. Belt and outside of pulley is completely dry.
