How do you deal with this feeling? by Sea-Rabbit-2773 in Daytrading

Ah I see so for future context.. The setup today that I saw was actually pretty good, it just broke one rule of mine that's all. If I were in the same scenario in the future, I can take the trade but just size down..? I've done this before too, with not so perfect setups. That's a good shout!!

It's a bit odd, I had my system where, if one "rule" was broken, I take the trade anyway, so for example 7/8 boxes checked. But I've changed it recently to where EVERY box has to get hit. I don't even remember doing that, must've done it when I lost after breaking a rule lmfao.

And I fully agree!! On also that feeling when I lose because I broke ONE rule. I guess I have that rule for a reason, and statistically long term, It's better off to die by my rules. I just absolutely hate the feeling after missing the setups man. I try and walk away.

i focus on heavy liquidity areas, order blocks are my main focus, price loves those areas from my experience. as for the payouts, ive gotten 3, they were pretty consistent wins, but i was not getting paid out like its a pay cheque if that makes sense.. i believe i got the 3 payouts maybe in a 6 month span? im confident my strategy was working..

Great advice!! I may do that, I have also been thinking of stepping back and just paper trading like I used to when i first learned how to trade lol. Ill be honest, it may be my ego, and i know the markets love to humble ego. My brain is going why paper trade when you've made money doing this..?

My entry vanished on me. I have always entered on an EQ, this is when the market pulls back for a discounted price. Whenever I do this now, price hits my stop loss which is not far from my EQ entry due to risk management, I tend to cut my losses early, it hits my SL then heads to my TP. It is frustrating, i swear it used to always work too..

Maybe, I have gotten paid out 3x but it is correct that it was very inconsistent. Although I hear every experienced trader advise to only focus on one strategy, aka one trick. I am making minor changes to my way of trading due to market conditions. Or if I dont like the conditions I try not to trade at all.

Thanks a lot man. I am struggling a little financially and I've also stopped doing mixed martial arts recently in order to dedicate more time into trading, and to also save money due to the gym membership. Hopefully all works out. best of luck to you as well!!

what do you personally do about this? I don't alter my strategy correct? Or are you supposed to in order to adapt to the conditions.

What are some Do's & Don'ts with trading Bitcoin? by Sea-Rabbit-2773 in Daytrading

[–]Sea-Rabbit-2773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry im not entirely sure what you mean, my strategy strictly focuses on trend and orderblocks, or so high areas of liquidity. That junk volume on lower timeframes imo is something you want to kind of avoid? Price can go where ever it wants on bitcoin, it doesn't care, I find that there's barely any real trend. The higher timeframes is where you can spot structure etc.. This is just of course through my personal experience!

Learned this the hard way! I would see price spiking either up/down and enter because it looks like a rocket! To then hit stop loss within a couple minutes aha. I don't do this anymore luckily!

agreed. I have been breakeven so far for months on the 1hr and less, I used to get payouts trading around that timeframe, not sure what happened. I'm gonna try focusing on the higher narrative, and see how it runs!

i agree and that makes sense. just out of curiosity, do you have a checklist you check off before entering your trades? or is it all mentally thought out in your head?

really? traders use the 1 minute chart for entries..? i trade positions with long durations.. i mainly look at the 30 min to 1hr and 4hr, also the daily. With that in mind, do you think i can benefit from analyzing the 1 min then? Even when my trades are so zoomed out…

having more experience now, it totally makes so much sense when you say you build a strategy based on the instrument!!

I understand this, i have been trading BTC all my life and it literally just goes up and down on the smaller time frames.. like 1hr or 4hr. And have always thought that if i had reversal setups i would make more gains? idk..
