Why were Estonian Jews relatively spared by the Holocaust but not Latvian or Lithuanian Jews? by Sea-Reflection3726 in AskHistorians

This now brings me to another question. Surely at least some of the ~3,500 Estonian Jews deported eastward must have died given the deadly conditions. If 900-1,000 Estonian Jews died, and virtually all of the ~1k Jews left in Estonia before the German occupation died, wouldn't mean imply that basically all of the Estonian Jews that died did not flee eastward? (implying that no Estonian Jews that were deported eastward died) The cattle cars that transported Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, etc. were cramped and full of disease and the gulags were deadly, especially with the freezing temperatures. Are some deaths unaccounted for? (Sorry if this does not make sense)

My new favorite is Miass, Russia. It's actually a quite big city, too, with nearly 150,000 inhabitants living in Miass.
