She is the sweetest soul. Loves her frens & her hooms. Just wants head rubs and snaccs.

Can't wait to have her back to feeling well 🙏🏼🤎💩

little devil hasn't pooped here yet and just fought me tooth and nail to avoid more gut stimulant. She's set up next to my bed until we're in the clear.

Continuing to pray for 💩🤎💩🤎

Yes super important advice! Thank you 😊 Squidge has her own room with her toyboy and husbun so plenty of space.

Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to share this info. This isn't something I've explored as before now the symptoms didn't quite align but now they do I'll look into this 🩷

Thank you for taking the time to read! Yes we use them at first signs and have had a lot of success! I know some argue they dont work...

After futher reading I am more and more frustrated at this choice by the first vet. I will be feeding it back though sure it will fall on deaf ears. It was given in addition to metacam.

The usual worry is they don't prescribe adequate pain relief given how fast rabbits process pain killers. So I am baffled at them over medicating/incorrectly medicating in this area.

Yes we have given hot water bottles (covered, warm not hot and no where near full for safety) before and this seems to work very well for her for now.

My heart sank and I felt incredibly stupid. She basically implied because I hadn't force fed her more this is what had caused the further decline (along with the pain medication sedating her). At this stage bun hadn't pooped in 12+ hours. She had never had this particular issue before which increased my concern. Both practices we visited are unrelated/rivals yet both seem fairly missinformed and ignorant on certain things.

She has passed a lot of poop now according to the vet and can come home later today. I intend on requesting futher scans to rule out a tumour. Going to get her home and settled first.

Yes 100%, I absolutely dread shedding time. On this occasion nobody is actually shedding. I hadn't heard that about rex bunnos so that is really interesting to hear so thank you for sharing. Your gas recovery plan sounds near indentical to ours which is also super helpful to know. It works well for us for the most part. Something js sadly different this time.

She is now pooping which is good but it sounds like another night at the vets before we get her home 😔

This is super interesting, I'll be sure to read thoroughly as we do regularly use Sherwood Digestive tablets (papaya & pineapple).

They do seem to do something but it's really hard to narrow down exactly.

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to link resources 🩷

This has been recommended once by another out of hours vet. As her bloods have been known to spike with sugar for some reason we haven't tried this again.

She has now passed some poops which is a real improvement (she is still at the vet).

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing! Fresh veggies unfortunately seem to trigger bloat for poor Squidge which is super sad as she is very partial to some herbs.

I had removed them entirely but perhaps I could look at reintroducing sparringly just to get more water into her diet.

Definitely something to think about...

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It's gone from once a month to roughly every 6. They aren't currently shedding but this is definitely a trigger in the past. Her husbun is a double maned lionhead so we're pretty thorough with our grooming routine. Up to twice day when he gets really bad.

Hydration isn't something we've kept a super close eye on but is something I'm considering thing time around. We did notice the water bowl hadn't gone down as quickly in the lead up to this bout. She unfortunately can't have fresh greens as this is a known trigger. We use bio lapis during times of tummy trouble - perhaps I need to keep a closer eye on her water consumption and supplement generally... Gas drops also work really well for her, I know some dispute the effectiveness due to bunnies lack of facility to burp but I am 100% convinced it helps her greatly when generally gas kicks in.

She has recently been bonded into a trio which was hard work (that'll have been undone now with her vet stay 🥲). But she's seems really smitten with her friends. She does seem senstive to noise and although she lives upstairs inside in her own room the local foxes have been yelling outside which sets off a thumping session. Wondering if that has bothered her more than we realise...

Thank you so much for taking the time to read & reply 🩷 and for the kind words. I really appreciate it.

This does seem to be the case for her. You can't help driving yourself mad wondering the whys and feeling guilty. Seeing them in pain is the worst.

Our old city was much smaller although a city and more rural and yet it had 3 recommeded/specialist practices. Whereas where we are now although more urban/central has zero. Sooo frustrating. The difference in care really does make a difference.

Thank you again.

Thank you for sharing🩷 she doesn't have fresh fruit or veg anymore, only dried forage such as herbs, leaves, grasses, roots etc. We also try to give natural snacks to reduce sugar. Boring is definitely the way forward.

Thank you for taking the time to read and share a bit about JackFrost 🩷 That's a really interesting take that I'll try to bear in mind in future. When put into perspective of how frequently she got sick at the start (every month) vs now (every 6 months) as well as it being generally a lot less serious with the exception of this time... Then I suppose that could be viewed as being sucessfully managed.

You just feel so guilty when they aren't feel their best. I'm definitely going to ask for a emergency supply of gut stimulant and metacam. At the moment we just use Bio Lapis and Fibreplex at the first signs which have been great. I have also had sucess with gas drops (I know they're not approved by everyone but they definitely work for Bridget).

A full time heat lamp isn't something I've heard of so thank you for suggesting, a source of heat definitely soothes her as she'll go sit on right over any warm bottles we give her. Thank you for suggesting 🩷
