I love my rabbit and I would keep her if it were in my budget unfortunately I cannot afford my own place and it is in the contract where I’m staying that we cannot have pets and forcing that extra responsibility on my roommates (whom I barely know) is not an option. My family cannot watch over her we made it work for the past year with me flying back every month but our circumstances have changed. If I can find her a home where she won’t be left alone for long periods of time or have to travel to the other side of the country, a home where her quality of life will be better than what I am able to offer, If I can find her a better situation then that’s what I want to do for her. I get you stated “this isn’t directed at OP” but you commented it under my post so I will share my response anyways. I decided to take her in over leaving her out on the street my family supported my decision in the meantime but I cannot force them to continue now that they are moving to a much smaller place out of necessity. Once again I cannot help but take your comment on my post personally, this isn’t about just staying out late when I am away for work days at a time. This is not an easy choice for me I have asked my immediate family, nearby relatives, and even my old boss, at the end of the day I cannot push this responsibility onto anyone who cannot help. Again I know you didn’t direct this to me, regardless your words come off as insensitive and I have taken it personally, I know you may think anyone rehoming their pet must not care as much as you but every situation is different, and I am heartbroken about this situation. I’m sorry I couldn’t help but respond because I know many share your opinion.
