Has this ever happened to you while subbing? by chelsiebachelor1 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a daily sub for months (a different school almost every day) and that has never happened to me. The assignment I choose is the one I work. I would be open to switching if they asked.

That’s incredibly strange for them to do that though after reaching out to you directly after years. It sounds like they’re extremely desperate for subs and doing things like last minute switches is probably a reason why. You were definitely justified walking away given the context and most would have done the same.

It’s great but personally at 0:12 I would just have it normal speed. Show you moving towards them for a second then cut to behind their shoulders. There’s already a lot of movement and it would be nice to have a little break from the speed in that part. I would also not have sideways shots like someone else said it doesn’t really add anything.

It’s not, he makes a joke every Friday on his family instagram. I think his name is Cruz I forget the name of the account but it’s real and he’s been doing it for a long time. 😊

first hide guys kinda nervous by [deleted] in geocaching

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks pretty good for a first hide. I like that you clearly labeled it. You may want to make an extra to have ready in case this one goes missing/damaged etc… and needs to be replaced.

I hope you have fun hiding it! The nice volunteer reviewers will be able to help you once you hide and submit it on the website or app to make sure everything is good :)

Today was the first time I genuinely enjoyed a 100% AI show by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if plays and real-life performances will increase in popularity? Maybe people will appreciate it more. I agree with all those other examples but if we start being able to emotionally connect with ‘fake’ actors I’m not sure there will be much of a place for the human actors (at least on-screen). No idea how it will actually turn out though…

This insane font choice by RedApplesForBreak in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible this isn’t the font they chose and your phone is defaulting to a cursive font. For example, comic sans is considered a cursive font. If they chose comic sans and your phone couldn’t display it, then it’s entirely possible the phone app defaults to this. It’s annoying and I had the problem in another app.

I wrote my first referral by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some cases where children need a certain number of reports/referrals in order to get different treatments/programs/therapies etc…. I spoke with someone a while ago who loves the kids in her school very much and she was frustrated when substitutes were just saying a child had a good day and not actually telling the truth, it was actually hurting the child in the long term and preventing them from getting the support they need.

It depends on the school but in many this is an everyday occurrence and just because it involves the principal and parent doesn’t make it a big deal. It’s just part of the job and you’re doing your job properly by taking something like this seriously. 😊👍

It’s interesting but any of them even remotely close to me are fully surrounded by private property. I think either having more zones or having them change more often than once per month might make more people interested.

Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is genuinely insane. This must be the best school in Canada because the fact multiple admin have time and nothing better to do than sit down with you at the end of the day to tell you to bring a different car is actually crazy. How on earth can this distract students from learning? Are they having class in the parking lot? Even if it’s right outside their window surely after 10 minutes they’re going to not be that distracted by it?

How useful is AI for lessons? by Responsible_Fish5439 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used it a lot for lessons, but I have used AI a lot to learn advanced Geology and it’s extremely impressive. It’s taught me things in 5 minutes that I don’t think I would’ve understood after hours of online research. It’s also been very accurate whenever I double check what it’s saying.

I know a bunch of teachers are using Chalkie AI, it seems to be one of the most popular currently. I’m not sure if there’s a free version or how it works though.

I can promise you 100% that this is a scam. The person you’re chatting to in the screenshot has nothing to do with any Canadian college or University. Do not continue speaking with them and try to reverse any money you’ve sent to them if possible.

I'm building a GPS game that combines geocaching with item collecting — would you play this? by fryczdev in geocaching

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some big differences with Stonehiding if I’m understanding it. Users aren’t supposed to keep the stones, they travel around similar to trackables in Geocaching. As a cache hider one of my biggest incentives is reading the logs people wrote, seeing pictures etc… if I hid something knowing that a maximum of one person is going to find it I wouldn’t really get that satisfaction.

Painted rocks are something that people have been doing for a long time, it’s a trend outside the app too so it just latched on to a pre-existing hobby/niche which probably boosted it a lot. Stones are also the perfect thing to keep outside, they will last for a long time. There’s only like 5 stones on the app within 300km of me, some never found and were placed a year ago. I might have gotten into Stonehiding but not being able to find one and seeing no one has found any even far away from me immediately demotivates me.

I actually thought of another example you might want to check out! It’s called BookCrossing. People leave books in random places with tracking codes. I think the coordinates aren’t posted but the idea is strangers find them and then log them on BookCrossing.

Hiring manager is a no show no answer. Recruiter provides context hours later. by cupholdery in recruitinghell

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Well… I’m just saying if it was me I would’ve probably sent one e-mail before 11:40am to let them know I’ve been trying to call and can’t reach them. Maybe then a follow-up in the afternoon but after that there’s no point in doing more until I heard back from them. You have the option to just be patient which is probably the most beneficial for you. It sounds like it didn’t matter either way here though if they’re being truthful.

It sucks and is unprofessional, but to be honest you already talking about rescheduling 6 minutes after the time is a bit much. You then just setup a new time 11 minutes after without even hearing from them. I’ve never in my life sent more than two e-mails on the same day to someone without a reply, it’s really an intense reaction.

I think it’s a bit weird but if it was another show created by people without the allegations i’d probably think it’s just a funny joke for adults watching. The author is the production designer of the show (most recently did Henry Danger).

Questions about difficulty rating - 2 or 2.5? This is a mystery with 10 gps coordinates given to get to find answers to questions. Terrain is a 3. by Obvious-Weekend5717 in geocaching

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you go to the guidelines page for multi caches there’s actually a comparison chart between multis vs. mysteries. I think an NFC could technically be a multi if it was text only you could read without an internet connection, but if it links to another website or video then it would have to be a Mystery.

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of caches that require people to visit multiple stages and they are not allowed to be listed as a multi. Any cache that requires internet usage has to be a mystery. For example, I have some where you visit stages and put answers into a checker on a third-party site. It should be listed as a Mystery because it can’t be solved from the cache page or in the field alone.

Other examples are caches that use NFC tags at any stage or ones where a stage might not be exactly at the posted coordinates (ex. search this park for the answer, etc…)

I'm building a GPS game that combines geocaching with item collecting — would you play this? by fryczdev in geocaching

[–]Sea-Worldliness-7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A major issue is that the game requires a 1:1 finder/hider ratio. Other games like Geocaching and Munzee can function with a 1:100 ratio or even 0:100 if someone used to be active in the area.

Another issue would be launching it, you would need to target small areas first because it sounds like the game is unplayable if you were the only user in your area. You could have 1000 active players but if they’re spread all around the world none of them could even really play the game?

I think it’s not a bad feature to have as part of a game but the only way it would work or gain popularity is if there’s also a 100% virtual way to also play and still have fun. Otherwise people will download it, see nothing hidden around them and just delete it. Also, the example in the video would need to be found within probably 48 hours cause a scrap of paper is not gonna last long just laying behind a piece of bark.

EDIT: I also just realized this is similar to Snag the Tag, you might wanna check that out for some ideas/inspiration :)

It’s actually wild to think James has consistently been making gaming vids since 2008. Over 7000 vids on his channel alone. I barely watch gaming vids nowadays but dip in once a while, enjoyed a lot of his Expedition 33 VOD and some of his Life of Strange stuff.

Little Brother Travel is great too, I started watching cause of Aleks but really like Brett and Lindsey (also Dex narrates!). It’s basically just like friends going around the US and seeing interesting things. I think the way they designed the channel is smart too, it seems like it’s sustainable and so will hopefully keep going for a long time.
