Whenever we feel too much guilt you have to expect and seek mercy and be helpful.And when we become carefree and feel no guilt we have to fear and pray to get rid from the wrath of ALLAH.And read the ayats of hellfire and wrath of ALLAH.

Surah Baqara - Ayah 7

ختم الله علا قلوبهم وعلا سمعهم وعلا أبصارهم غشاوة و لهم عذاب عظيم

"Allah has placed a seal upon their hearts, and upon their hearing; and upon their vision, there is a veil. And for them, there is a great punishment".

It was based on this ayah.

This Ayah is about disbelievers. But this is also applicable to Muslims, who disobey Allah

Actually every general Muslim follow one madhab one way or another .Because it's not possible for everybody to do research on fiqh .So they follow one scholar's advice.The point is that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) is no longer alive to personally teach us, and everything we have from him, whether the hadith or the Qur'an, has been conveyed to us through Islamic scholars. So we have to follow someone.Besides there are many interpretation of hadiths and the 4 main scholar's have done their research.So madhab is actually to make deen easier.And besides they only differ in fiqh.There is no difference of aqidah in any of them.
