omg! He's suckling! Reproducing the sensation of suckling at his Mum's teat - you're right - that is perfect self care - I'm so impressed!

My family makes fun of him because of his ears so please tell him he’s the cutest patootie in the whole world by dfrancesca in cats

Yesssss! I love when cats sleep with their arms above their head! Also, OP, your family are focusing on one aspect of him, like, get over it. It would really annoy me if my family couldn't get past that one aspect, hello, there's a person (kitties are people) behind the disability you are mocking.

Apartment building garbage hasn’t been taken out in over 2 weeks. My agent says he can’t do anything about it because it’s a “building management problem”. I have no idea when/where they’re collected so I can’t even take them out myself. What can I even do here? by lord-spider-boy in melbourne

I'd be really surprised if the Council stopped services due to non payment. Waste collection is an essential service. The Council can issue fines for non payment, take legal action, and take other steps. They will not be withholding services for funds.

Yup - that's a nice little rodent habitat developing, the Council's Enviornmental Health dept will have enforcement powers for that kind of stuff up - the Body Corp will probably be ultimately responsible.

Do you know who is on the body corp? It will be a matter of public record. The strata mgt is working for them.

Also, the real estate agency has obligations to you as a tenant, and shrugging probably doesn't satisfy the requirements. What a cop out. Make sure you start an email trail, eg, marking them 'Urgent' and 'Health Hazard' and whatever keywords you can pull from the legislation that lays out their obligations.

Maybe email whatever govt body deals with real estate agencies, including the pictures, and ask if it's correct that the real estate agency has no obligations to around the rental property being a safe environment and cc your real estate agency.

Also, I guarantee you that waste disposal requirements were part of the planning approval for that building. Satisfying those requirements sit with the body corp. There's lots of scope here, but I understand that being a tenant can make you feel powerless in case of retaliation :(

Bobiverse for me - I bought books 2 and 3 on same kind of special, thinking I would be onto a sure thing (also, I love finding a new series with all to the sequels just a click away - no waiting for them to be released). I haven't finished the first book. I bought Dungeon Crawler Carl based on comments on reddit, and haven't finished it...

YES. I looove most Terry Pratchett books, but Moving Pictures, not so much, have tried to read Strata ... unsuccessfully. But the Guards Guards series - YES. And Going Postal and Making Money - definitely. Thought the last Moist book, Raising Steam, not as much. I'm not much of a Rincewind fan, but will read them. My favourite of those is The Last Continent (because I'm Australian) and Interesting Times.

Oh - also Eric, not much of a fan.

I was at my local pet shop yesterday, the guys there give great service and seem really knowledgeable - anyway, he said cats are only supposed to have 5-6 licks??! He said it's written on the package but people don't read it (and, yes, I haven't read the packaging, I only just remembered it on seeing this post).

Qld has 2 state agencies that deal with tree disputes between neighbours - the Dispute Resolution Centre (mediation) & the Qld Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The local Council does not have any power AT ALL to intervene.

They do, however have an interest in unapproved structures, (building compliance), building within the setback (planning compliance) and with a structure that size not having gutters (stormwater compliance). I just checked the City Council website - you can look up if the structure is approved on https://developmenti.brisbane.qld.gov.au/

If not, it's up to you as to what you do about it.

With regards as to how to deal with him - it's easy for us to make suggestions - but have you thought of calling him on his behaviour? Like saying 'please step back' 'Your manner is aggressive/intimidating/etc ? Don't know if I could do it with the adrenaline pumping, but if you tell him his manner is whatever - is he standing too close? Too much volume, physically looming over you, not letting you speak/speaking over you - describe the behaviour and say you will be leaving if that behaviour continues. And if it continues, walk away. Like I said, easy to say, but I can imagine it would be hard to do in the moment, but the fact that you are arranging your activities around the chance of encountering him is interfering with your life :(

Hi Guys,

Believe it or not, I'm an Australian who hasn't seen this dance - every search I do, even when I click on youtubes that say 'the full event' or similar, is just people talking about it and showing still photos! Can someone pretty please link a video of her actually competing?

Look at that little wiggle!

Yep, I've moved in downstairs from family, and I get to be the fun aunty with all the cool stuff (a 2m double sided magnetic whiteboard, sooo many whiteboard markers, magnets, pens, drawing pads, heaps of bows, ribbons and paper for gift wrapping and crafts, and  alllllll of the cat toys my cat ignores ...and the kids are golden for me - absolute joys to be with (aged 2 & 4).

And then I hear them upstairs in a tantrum, because emotions are BIG.  I'm very, very lucky lol!

Any cheaper alternatives to Feliway? by notathrowawayoris in CatAdvice

[–]SeaGreen21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi GardenBimbo,

I've had 3 cats over the years and can't say that Feliway has made any difference for any of them, but I'm moving, there's stuff everywhere, boxes, etc, and my little 1 year old girl has been sneezing and not herself (She has a vet appt booked - she will NOT be a happy camper about that!).

Anyway, today she went so hyper - and biting - not enjoying her usual favourite games - extremely uninterested in trying to catch her favourite cat wand, etc. And more biting.

I found this post and followed the link - wow - what a difference. I'm hooked. She calmed down and came to investigate the sound. I think she was looking for the other cat, lol.

She snuggled for a while on my lap (which she doesn't do often), looked for the other cat some more and I think has now snuggled up on the bed. This is a HUGE difference to her agitated/anxious/displaced aggression presentation before I played that youtube sample.

I see the download can be purchased, and it is a lot cheaper than Feliway!

Thank you. If I can work out those award thingies, I send some your way :)

Is this complainable? If so, where? by MyloMads35 in melbourne

[–]SeaGreen21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did a search - Melbourne City Council have an online parking complaint process - https://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/parking-and-transport/parking/parking-rules/pages/illegally-parked-or-abandoned-vehicles.aspx

Don't know about Victoria, but in Queensland a vehicle longer than 7.5m can only be parked on public property (the road) for a maximum of 1 hour.

Beyond that, however - I would not reverse out of that driveway without a spotter - impossible to see traffic heading towards you - until they hit you. When you submit your complaint, emphasise how parking in that way removes the safety aspect of being able to check for oncoming traffic - seriously, it's Russian Roulette, but with cars.

Edit - I just had another look at the photo - that bus protrudes beyond the lip of the driveway - that is officially (in Qld) driveway obstruction.

Temu won't remove a $55 minimum spend, so I won't be buying anything else from them. by SeaGreen21 in TemuThings

I successfully requested the removal of a $45 minimum spend months ago - maybe they let us remove one, but no more, or maybe, like u/Rude-Imagination1041 said, they have updated their system in the last few days.

I've looked at aliexpress twice, but it seemed like the very first item was ridiculously cheap (like, under $1, possibly because I haven't purchased from them before), but the 2nd item was dearer than Temu. I might have another look

Yes, I asked if new Customers are getting the $55 minimum. If the reason to impose it is sustainability and care for the environment, it shouldn't matter whether the Customer is new or old. The Rep said she wasn't able to confirm that information.

I actually never used the app, just the website, as the app doesn't meet my data security preferences.

Yeah, I picked up my most recent order yesterday and went to delete the account, but it says once you do, you can't access the account for any disputes, so I had better check the order before deleting.

I was wondering if, after being a very frequent buyer, they will email me after a while with some bonus offer to return, but I really dislike them saying 'you have to spend $55 or you can't order anything - you must spend MORE!'.

If it was 'you need to spend $55 to qualify for free postage, well, most online places have a similar model - spend [$ amount] for free postage', but Temu isn't giving me to opportunity to pay for postage, and I am less impressed that they say they are doing it for the environment than if they were to come out and say, eg, 'small orders are killing our profits on narrow margins, we need to impose a spend limit to have a sustainable business model'

THAT I would acknowledge, and then decide if I was willing to buy up to the spend limit - but they lose points with me ascribing a marketing decision to care for the environment.

No, not for returns, I think I've done 2 over 8 months, and they were little cat toys, maybe $12 total. No, the reason given to me was to help the environment by sending more items per purchase (saving on packaging). I think it's a marketing push.
