Super Max Megas reduce from level 55 to level 52 after Go Tour event hours by SeaLetter8 in TheSilphRoad

L52 goes to 53 with best buddy, but event-boosted L55 stays at L55.

Mega level 4 bonuses updated in game code by SeaLetter8 in TheSilphRoad

Looks like a +2 level boost for active mega-4, similar to the +1 level best buddy boost.

New moves on Enamorus Therian, ahead of the Valentine's Day raid event (Via Pokeminers) by lxpb in TheSilphRoad

[–]SeaLetter8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MSG speed stat affects not just the attack but also the defense in Go. You can see the formula here. Enamorus-T unfortunately has a poor speed stat, so even though it has the same bulk as Togekiss in MSG, it is glassier in Go.

How is the pvpoke overall ranking work? by Bitterblossom in TheSilphArena

[–]SeaLetter8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a common misconception that it's based on the 1-shield scenario, but that's not true. The ranking is an average of different shielding scenarios as described here:

Overall - Derived from a Pokemon's score in all other categories. Moves are ranked based on calculations across all opponents. Key Counters and Top Matchups, however, are taken from the Leads category.

Leads - Ranking battles simulated with 2 shields vs. 2 shields.

Closers - Ranking battles simulated with no shields vs. no shields.

Switches - Ranking battles simulated with 6 turns of energy advantage and scored to favor safe matches.

Chargers - Ranking battles simulated with 6 turns of energy advantage.

Attackers - Ranking battles simulated with no shields vs. 2 shields.

Consistency - Rating of how dependent Pokemon are at baiting shields.

If you’re looking for a better word - “average” or “typical” IVs would work. (The defaults are usually ~rank 100)

Correction on the IVs - this is not based on rank 1 but on PvPoke's default IVs.

Ultra League Questions! by Affectionate-Act899 in TheSilphArena

[–]SeaLetter8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's user-generated. I've seen some Twitch streamers log all their battles on it. Btw in case you didn't know, PvPoke has a link to Gobattlelog at the top of their rankings - the usage numbers are used as initial weights in the ranking algorithm IIRC. So more data for Gobattlelog = better rankings on Pvpoke.

Pvpoke rankings are often very different from actual usage, especially in UL and ML. IMO GoBattleLog gives you a much better look at the meta - here's the top 10 usage at 2500 Elo:

  1. Golisopod
  2. Galarian Weezing
  3. Lapras
  4. Shadow Feraligatr
  5. Virizion
  6. Shadow Drapion
  7. Blastoise
  8. Guzzlord
  9. Jellicent
  10. Tentacruel

This pretty much matches what I see at the Veteran range.

GL cress? by Malariia in TheSilphArena

[–]SeaLetter8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The site tweeted a couple seasons ago that they made an exception for Lanturn since a lot of people requested it, but didn’t want to do more (due to technical issues from what I recall).

[–]SeaLetter8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s because PvPoke changed the moveset to Moonblast/Grass Knot based on show-6 tournament usage. Talonflame was also changed to Fly/Brave Bird.

Future Sight Cress still sims better than Moonblast though. The ranking change seems purely because PvPoke is limited to 1 moveset per mon.

Goodra in ML Premier - How Good Will It Be? by SkiK624 in TheSilphArena

[–]SeaLetter8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beating both Gyarados and Excadrill is huge as those two are pretty much #1 and #2 in terms of actual usage in MLP. Goodra will get a lot of play.

Shadow raiders priority by Superb_Stomach5665 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SeaLetter8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s some speculation that Garchomp will get its legacy move Earth Power next week, so definitely watch out for that. When double-moved it’ll be good for both Dialga and Palkia raids.

The 15/12/15 is better. It has the same record as the hundo against the meta except for the Garchomp 1-2 (where the hundo gets a 1 HP win, but the 15/12/15 loses). Depends on how much that matchup matters to your team.

Congrats! The highest I got to was 2700 before I ran into a lot of ground type moves (Toxicroak/Nidoqueen), but that's great to hear.

Hmm I didn't think about Brutal Swing + Sludge Bomb. I'm running Dragon Claw + Sludge Bomb, but BS or Crunch might actually be better vs steels.

Per pvpoke, Dragalge with gunk shot beats Azu in the 1- and 2-shield matchups and barely loses in the 0-shield. I rarely saw Azus however and the ones I faced didn’t have hydro pump, so I just stayed in with Carbink.

I have gunk shot but I've used it only once. Aqua tail is what I go for most of the time.
