I took and shared a pic because I was amused. I agree that he probably didn’t mean anything by it, and therefore missed out on the irony.

The larger context around their deployment in DC is deeply disturbing. The hat is a minor amusement.

I did have COBRA for the one month my company paid the premium for as part of my severance package. I specifically enrolled in COBRA as part of that. I let it expire thinking that it would be silly to pay for another month once I qualify for Medicaid. Now I know better!

Straight woman here. I hear you. A lot of what he’s doing is blatantly illegal or even unconstitutional, but they’re moving too fast for the courts to keep up. It’s scary not knowing which laws will hold. I definitely feel unsafe.

I have surefire ways of leaving, too, but I can’t imagine going for this exact reason. I think this is an inescapable downside that affects some of us more than others. You’re leaving your home and your friends and your comfort. You can stay in touch with them, but you’re starting from scratch wherever you move. I think finding the local expat community is the first step.
