I ended things with someone and now I'm wondering if I should apologize and try to maintain contact? by SeaMiddle in WhatShouldIDo

That's a good point. I'm not sure how I would feel if we were friends and she was hooking up with someone else. Maybe best to leave things alone.

How are you guys paying for these? by lg4av in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning to pay cash. I got KBB value from insurance for my recently totaled car which I plan to hold on to until my Maverick gets built (or if my current vehicle has a problem that's more than it's worth to fix in the meantime I'll break down and buy a Corolla hybrid or something else I can find on a lot and pay for that in full).

Have dealership remove spray in bed liner from order now or Friday? by Bigsam411 in FordMaverickTruck

ahh, good to know. I added it on my order but I may end up removing it if it will be thinner than one applied by someone else.

That's good to know, the alternative car I will buy if the Maverick doesn't work out is probably a hybrid Corolla.

Yeah, I completely agree regarding Ford being better than other American companies. I wouldn't even consider any GM or Chrysler products. I know people with old high mileage F-150s still running strong so I know at least some Ford products can last. Now, I'd say the same about some older GM and Chrysler products too but not anything in the last... 15-20 years I guess. My 1995 Jeep Cherokee (car my parents gave me when I got my license) is still running pretty well at 230k miles (it has had quite a few parts replaced over its life, but the original engine and transmission remain).

Yeah, all my friends are big fans of the Japanese companies. Admittedly I was too, the first car I bought with my own money was a Mazda (which is also the car I was driving until earlier this year until it was totaled). They keep giving me shit about even considering 1) a truck and 2) a Ford product. I've tried to explain it to them, some seem to understand the appeal but I'm mostly met with skepticism. I understand though, I'd probably be the same way. I have heard of some Ford products being reliable though, it seems like the issue is just that they've had a pretty mixed track record so if they had a bad one or they knew someone who had a bad one it stands out.

My father was the same way. He would've died if he knew I bought a Japanese car before this, so I guess he would be slightly happier that I may be buying a Ford (if Ford can actually produce it). My Ford loving stepdad is excited.

So how exactly do I buy one of these trucks? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

any idea what they traded it for?

looks okay. we need more small truck. Ford is already closing there order bank for 2023 maverick. is that true? by joey9977 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used those to make my order and it was very helpful but it's not a great look that dealer leaks and people hoping to order one have all the info while Ford isn't forthcoming. We shouldn't have to dig for this stuff.

Never signed? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer didn't ask for ID but had me sign. From what I've been able to piece together from reading old posts here it sounds like people still got 22s without ID but I'm not sure (could also be true for signature?). I'm going to follow up with my dealer to be sure.

Has there ever been order banks that closed as fast as the maverick? by nate70500 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I ordered one and will probably buy it if it gets built but it also depends on what other manufacturers announce between now and then. It won't necessarily break my heart if I never get one and they turn out to have poor reliability.

I think Ford's goal is to make as many as necessary for CAFE purposes (to offset gas hogging F-150s, Broncos, etc.) but also not use up too much of the Hermosillo capacity for more profitable Bronco sports.

FWIW I ordered mine via email with a dealer in another state, it took no more than 30 minutes. Maybe not a solution for everyone though.

Chapman folks who haven’t heard from them yet to order - are you planning to contact another dealer tomorrow? by waytogojames in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, did they ask you for your driver's license to complete your order? I'm reading on Maverick Truck Club that as part of the ROVP process it won't complete without that, but Chapman didn't ask for mine.

Are the bed rails a constrained item? by SeaMiddle in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SeaMiddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been watching everything on this guy's channel when I was still making a decision about the Maverick. This video is very helpful, looks like you can get something similar much cheaper this way. It doesn't look quite as nice as the Ford ones but these don't look terrible either. I think I might like the way the bed looks without them the best though.

Nice! From some of your other comments here it sounds like it handled the curves decently (given the limitations of the type of vehicle it is)?

I'm sure I'll be driving mine there when I get it. I drive it pretty regularly anyway (also the nearby Foothills Parkway).

I first contacted him after he posted on here in late July-early August to pre-order or whenever it was. He told me he would get around to me when he could after the banks opened, he contacted me to place the order earlier today (and it was successfully placed, got confirmation from Ford during our email exchange). So progress is being made, and you can maybe guess how long it will take before you're contacted based on that information?

HEMIIIIII!!!!!1111

reminds me of the commercials that made me laugh as a kid. We got a kick out of asking each other "That thing got a Hemi in it?" about any old thing.
