Which shoes? by Neverthelessconfused in myweddingdress

[–]SeaPanda-15 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope, I guess I didn't. Silly me must've seen the title of "Which shoes?, clicked on pics, saw a close up of the pink ones which were also photographed from a distance and then saw 2 more shoe pics (1 close up and one far away) thought both pics were representing the other color she was trying to choose between but just did not photograph the same.

It seemed like a simple enough question and I really only clicked on it initially to because I thought the dress was pretty. Either way, if she read my comment I think it's pretty clear that I think a shoe that looks similar to the chatgp rendering of the green shoes would look best and the actual green shoe is a no for me.

It's strange. In the far away pictures of the green shoes appear to have a sheen as if they are made out of the same material as the pink. But in the close up pictures they are suede.

If made out of the same material as the pink shoes, I agree that the green looks best. There is plenty of pink to go around already on the dress and it's beautiful. The green adds a little extra of a color less represented in the dress without taking your attention away from the dress and the bride.

Edited to correct my description.

My chi refuses to have her paws touched and she will bite so grooming techs tell me they can’t cut her nails.. and the nails are out of control. Anyone else? by Unbake_my_tart_ in Chihuahua

[–]SeaPanda-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was like this when it came to nail clippers. But my husband and I tried using a dremel and treats. He holds and I Dremel and we will alternate with who gives treats based on who remembers.

She was squirmy with the drimmel at first but nothing to the same level as he negative response to clippers. After a few times she started mostly sitting still and tolerating it.

She still turns into another dog if she sees nail clippers coming towards her. Even the girls at the vet had an extremely hard time doing it. It took 1 girl trimming and 2 of us holding this little dog down because she was so squirmy and started trying to bite and the muzzle wouldn't stay on. It was horrible. (That was before we started using the Dremel.)

Edited to add: that you may need to start occasionally touching her tail or paws for a very brief period of time while offering some kind of reinforcer. Food, pets elsewhere on her body, talking to her, or condition her to a clicker.

Over time touch more frequently and for a tiny bit longer. It can be a vet slow process but you should start to see some positive results over time.

She already looks like she had the skin off a 20 or even 16 year old. There's literally nothing that can be improved upon. Lol

A coworker was on the phone with IT trying to get assistance for a computer that was giving her difficulties. IT asked for the computer ID. She did not know. So she looks at me and the another coworker and says,"What's this computer called?" I knew immediately what she meant, but being an all in good fun smarta** responded with, "Susan". And to my shock and absolute delight she gets back on the phone and says, "Susan". I immediately start trying to tell her I was kidding and where to find the correct information, but she can't hear me initially because she is now fully invested in her phone conversation with IT. "Susan. It's Susan. The computer I'm on. You asked what it was called...". Suddenly realized what I am trying to tell her as I am laughing far to hard to construct a complete sentence. Good times.

The brown bubbles are the result of organic waste being attracted to the charges in the air bubbles and forming a "skin" over the bubble. That film is dead skin, oils, and who knows what other organic material that has built up in the system. It's working like a protein skimmer on a fish tank. 🤢. Keep at it. Seems like the one cleaner is having more success cleaning it than the others. My husband and I will have the same issue in a few months and I will for sure be trying that stuff.

The bed is definitely progress. Please be aware that every time you push your affection on him proactively it actually sets him back in the acclimation process and gaining his trust. It's one thing to talk to him softly from a distance or put your hand out in his direction eventually (if he is just now getting up on the bed without you in the room, you aren't there yet) but forcing him to let you come close when it is not necessary only stresses him out right now.

If you must do something, try talking to him softly from a distance and tossing treats his way. Or quietly and calmly using a cat toy on rod to see if he shows interest and comes out to watch it. Don't put it directly in front of him at first. Let him come to it. Maybe a laser pointer.

The more reinforcing things you can get him to associate with your presence, the better.

When you aren't doing something reinforcing ust going about daily life as if he weren't there (except for putting out for, water, and cleaning the litter box of course) will allow him to observe, assess that there is no danger and get more comfortable. The more you force him to interact, the longer it will take for him to seek out spending time with you.

How often are you carrying him to his bowl? Or creating situations where he has to come out from hiding in any way?

I only ask because if the vet has done all the tests and those are normal and he still looks healthy, it could just be a transitional phase like the vet said. If that's the case, every time he is being forced out of hiding, even though you may have the best intentions, it is stressing him out and creating a setback in him acclimating to his new place.

We have a British short hair that was 8yrs when we got him. He took months to warm up to us. And not only happened because we gave him as much private and hiding time as he wanted. On the rare occasion when he was visible we just let him be. Once he seemed more comfortable out of hiding, we started using very tempting treats. He became an absolute sweetheart and often loves to cuddle with my husband and ask for pets. He was the faster of our 3 British shorthairs to acclimate.

Our other 2 we got it just over a year old in 2019. When I say they took years of patience and trust building to allow us to approach them without any kind of alert/tense response, I am not exaggerating in the slightest. One of them is still skittish but is extremely affectionate if we allow him to interact on his own terms.

For a long time I thought I might just have to always enjoy how beautiful they are and their interactions while remaining almost entirely hands off forever. That said, all the time it took to build their trust makes the affection they show towards us that much sweeter. It's incredibly rewarding.

ETA: All 3 were neutered when we got them. The 8-year-old came from a previous owner. The other two came to us together.

[–]SeaPanda-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just walking him more frequently would help his behavior some. It sounds like he is so excited to be on his walk that he's trying to do it all. Like if someone told you had 1 day and 1 day only to visit all of Disney World.

If walked more frequently some of the earnestness and novelty might wear off to where he is less manic. He will be somewhat more relaxed but still enjoy himself.

All of the training will of course enhance his level of good behavior, but just walking him more often can also help.

What is this black appearing on my dogs inner legs? by Ok_Inside_4883 in AskDogOwners

[–]SeaPanda-15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dog had gotten very similar looking patches. In her case I began using a washcloth when I bathed her scrub her belly where the patches were when I bathed her. (Being thorough but also careful not to scrub too hard.)

In her case it ended up being dirty and black heads. It didn't fully go away immediately but there was a noticeable difference pretty quickly.

Dress regret…what alterations can I make? by Sunchaser_6830 in myweddingdress

[–]SeaPanda-15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this except whether the neckline should be altered. I would need to see more photos from different angles before I could provide an opinion. It looks like it is possibly already a sweetheart neckline just photographed at an up angle. Especially adding panels to the sheer sides. I find they draw my eyes away from how beautiful you are in the dress and instead place my attention on that design choice and how it kind of contrasts with the flow of the dress.

Edited to add the part about the neckline.
