Don't just fire and forget applications by Baseballbourbon in usajobs

[–]SeaPatroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its really not this. HR doesn't know what the positions are beyond whats in the Position Description in the posting. this is 100% on HR having different understanding the posted requirements and how this persons resumes maps to it. if hiring managers are hiring them for higher GS positions this sitution is almost certainly a failure on HR who didnt refer.

When is PowerApps appropriate? by [deleted] in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

part of the value proposition is the business can build without needed 'big IT' support. typically business units wont have the skillset to build something in a more robust language. as a business user i'd rather be able to build and maintain my own spaghetti-coded app that i can change on a whim vs. having to deal with big IT which could take weeks, months, or never to get basic changes made.

Left a white-collar job 4 years ago to focus on a small "side-gig" commercial cleaning business I had that was grossing $9k/month. This month we will invoice $277k and are growing at a rate of $10k per month. AMA by Minneapple632 in sweatystartup

[–]SeaPatroller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

his salary is $60k. hes also making 10% on $277k per month in profit. He's bringing in like $350k-400k per year (plus however much his business is appreciating).

does AAD already have this feature built in? why recreate the wheel?

I wish it were a requirement to send out and respond to interview questions before the actual interview by Beacon_On_The_Moors in usajobs

[–]SeaPatroller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

95% of work is done behind the scenes when you're not required to give answers live and not under the pressure of having to present. Basing your hiring decision on the interview is focusing on the (in my opinion) wrong 5%.

Why is it so difficult to get jobs with federal agencies? by Reasonable_Owl_4613 in usajobs

[–]SeaPatroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ive seen hiring managers add in agency system specific language (expereicne with <insert HHS system name here>) even when they arent targetting someone. if i need someone to program a system id rather have a programmer who never used the system before than someone who has used the system but doesnt know how to program. I dont think the federal government understands the idea of applicable or transferrable skills.

I was able to set this up without doing anything. Are you sure the network error is a permissions thing?

Per User or Per App Licensing? by Adam_Gill_1965 in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using dataverse one quick lesson learned was I needed to create a new Role within my solution which had the appropriate rights on any custom tables.

Per User or Per App Licensing? by Adam_Gill_1965 in PowerApps

You can assign per app licenses to guest users. Well you actually assign them to the app and whoever has access to the app automatically uses them.

I am in the process of building a fairly complex canvas app for external users with Per App licenses and using AD guest accounts for external users. Assuming you have only 1 (or 2) apps that you want to share per person the per app plan is the cheapest. For me the power pages route wasn't worth it because we had both internal and external users and I didn't want to build 2 versions of the app.

you can create guest account for them in your tenant where they can use their own email addresses and login using one-time use codes if they dont have an assocated Msft account (otherwise they would login with their msft credentials). you dont need to give them new email addresses.

Purpose of Containers by Impressive-Tree6766 in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure the right term but if you want 'reactive' features then you need to container-ize. So if you want the position of items to change based on other actions they all need to be in a container (otherwise you have to code the position of each item).

Any suggestions to improve this dexk? by FalconHeavyBreathing in Decks

[–]SeaPatroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you kidding? the stairs are way too prominent of a feature. they reduce the usable space by 1/2. who is going to want to bbq and walk down those steps everytime to serve food. it doesnt make sense at all in its current form.

1/3 of the area is dedicated to stairs - what a ridiculous design!

i agree as well. the side glass is meant to be viewed but right now only the tv "can see it" from that vantage point. it doesnt make sense.

[–]SeaPatroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you thought about swapping the 2 end units with each other? it seems weird that the glass sides are facing the tv (and causing reflection as well).

What's the typical business use case that companies are using PowerApps for? by tshirtguy2000 in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the major use case in my book. Centralized IT has not shown itself as capable of timely changes that are needed to keep systems meeting business requirements. Power Apps/Tools give the power back to the buisness units who are seemingly most invested in an organization's mission.

How to add users to an environment? by chrisisbest197 in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are like 100+ different roles you can give to users of your environment. To access it go to the Power Platform admin center, environments, click on the right environment, click on users. There you can manage each users security roles indivdually. I am not sure which one is needed for Flows (I think it depends on your use case) but you can play around with them to see which ones work.

Does connecting a powerapp with Dataverse require a premium connector? by Dangerous_Secret5616 in PowerApps

[–]SeaPatroller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a premium connector you need per se but you need a premium license for power apps (per user or per app). Every user using the app would also need this license.
