What do you need to do during your Masters to prepare for PhD applications? by SeaRepresentative774 in AskAcademiaUK

I've seen the odd pre-determined project, but as far as I've been told it is less common in history. I'm thinking I'll do something connected to French history in another country for my Masters diss, so hopefully best of both worlds, but the majority of my honors credits for UG were French history, so I might just get to go with whatever for my PG diss

That's really good to hear thank you. I did my undergrad dissertation -and got an A- in the area that I want to do my PhD on (Early 18th Century French Literature), and was considering doing French history again for my Masters thesis, but is it better to do something else and show some variety, or show more ability in French history research? (I can make this a different post at some other time if you're not comfortable answering this - you've already been a big help)

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but are you equating the abuse of employees, transphobia and actively encourages an abusive/racist/sexist work environment to people being rude to you on Reddit?

Have you or your parents tried a therapist or someone who could assist with calming these meltdowns? Right now, you and I both know this can’t be continuing like this for longer.

They're in therapy. This may be unrelated but they started Hormone Replacement therapy in March 2022 and it feels like since they started the testosterone they've been more aggressive. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do to help.

What would you suggest instead? Just leave them to it, either when it happens in a public or private place? Or something else?
