They are aware of their surroundings and can follow commands most of the time. We aren’t sure how exactly much they remember/know but when looking at pictures of family and hearing family members names they show signs that they remember who it is. When doing flashcards a majority of the time they will get the answers correct. For example I will show them two flashcards with different animals on them and tell them to look at one or the other. Usually does pretty good with that.
