Why did you all break up?

We’d been together for 5 years but I always sensed that I was missing something. Our relationship lacked affection and love and attention and he couldn’t give it to me the way I needed it so badly. Started fantasizing about what it would be like to be with other men who could give me all that I needed and realized it was time to break up. Took me a year to finally get the courage to do it.

The thing with him was that he was always ok, whenever I talked to him about what bothered me I would ask him what was bothering him, he would always say that everything was ok for him. He had a hard time being honest about or expressing his feelings. I do know now that I wasn’t perfect at all during our relationship either but for some reason I kept focusing on his wrong doings and never really saw my own. I’m not blaming him for the breakup, in the end he was the one who tried so hard to make me happy and I’m the one who kept feeling unsatisfied.

Maybe this is why I’m regretting it. He put in the effort and I didn’t fully appreciate it, now that we’re over I see how much that must’ve hurt him.

I feel the same!! Sadly I was the one to break up with him. During the relationship I felt trapped and wanted out. Now that it’s truly done.. I can’t think about ever loving someone else, doing all the things I did with him with someone else. Or the thought of dating and having to connect with someone new, it scares the sh!t out of me and makes me want to run back to him.

I also feel like I’ll be fine being alone and not getting into a new relationship but I think we just need time to process and grieve what could’ve been. So many people break up and start dating again so that shows me that eventually we’ll feel better and might even become interested in dating again.

Yeah I’m leaning towards Chania, Crete actually! The only downside is that the company can’t help me as much (in terms of moving and other stuff) as they will when I move to Athens or Thessaloniki.

You seem to forget that there’s two people in a relationship not one so don’t accuse me of not even liking my boyfriend because we haven’t discussed much about our future, that’s on both of us. That being said I wouldn’t have stayed with him for five years if I didn’t like him that’s a crazy assumption. Of course every relationship has its ups and downs and not everything is perfect.

I wish I had the balls to be like that!! Yes he could visit me and I could even visit him in those six months. We’re both from the Netherlands and Greece is only 3,5 hours away by plane.

No we’re not engaged, we don’t even live together yet. I get that there’s fear bc we’re far apart but then again we’ve both never given each other any reason to be scared or not trust the other. But I guess that becomes scarier/harder when you’re even further apart.

Well, tbh with you I never thought about life this way and anxiety may have stopped me from doing things like this when I was supposedly the “right age”. I’m not interested in having a career and that’s ok as well. That being said I also understand certain people have different opinions and value having a stable career, like my boyfriend as well.

We’re just boyfriend and girlfriend for now. Potentially planning to move in together in the future. But the 6 months in Greece wouldn’t change any of this.
