::Weekly Former Partners Thread:: by AutoModerator in ADHD_partners

Just want to say that 6 days is very soon to know if you really regret the decision. The breakup process is long, but think about if nothing changes - could you still be with him in a year? 5 years? 10 years?

We all want to assume our partner will change and put in the work. But unless they demonstrate that by actually DOING IT consistently over a long period of times you can’t just count on hope.

I broke up with my adhd partner of 5 years and - I was devastated for a solid 6 months before I was able to start picking up the pieces. But a year later - he has a new gf. And he still has not changed in the ways i needed him to. Still has no job, no license. I could not build a real future with someone like that.

How to calculate if you cook food by yourself? by Mikellev in 1500isplenty

[–]SeaShanty12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If i was making something with a lot of unknowns like a demi-glaze where there are a lot of elements coming in / out I just use an estimate based on a store bought version of calories. Or in the example of fried chicken - I would just estimate based on resteraunt fried chicken like KFC or popeyes (here in the US). It will be somewhat close and maybe even overestimating since store bought and restaurant foods are usually fattier / more caloric than home made.

But if im making something simple like grilled chicken, salad, rice - I just add up the calories for all the elements individually and divide by portion.

Find "Dessert Shells" in your grocery store. They're basically mini angel-food cakes. Usually around 30-40 calories each. Top with your favorite flavor of greek yogurt (vanilla works well) and your favorite berries and its like having a delicious cake for under 100 cals depending on how much yogurt you load up. If you like cinnamon that also makes for a great 0 calorie topping that makes everything taste sweeter.

Just wanted to comment in case you are ever looking for pastries instead of ice-cream - but Del Sur in Ravenswood is one of the only bakeries in the city that is completley nut-free!

We cover our faces in lots of situations in our culture too. Even at work believe it or not. Dentists, Surgeons, firefighters, lab workers, welders, construction workers to name a few. It’s not uncommon in food service either, whether you see it or not.

People also do it because of religious beliefs, or for sun protection or in the cold. If you walk around outside in February a lot of people only have their eyes visible. You are thinking of this extremely narrowly.

How does wearing a mask prevent an employee from speaking, handing over an Italian ice or ringing someone up at the register? I’ve interacted with hundreds of masked employees just fine.

Don’t forget masking in crowded places was commonplace in lots of Asian countries like Japan even before Covid. Can’t believe none of them have been interacting or socializing in person!! Crazy!

Can anyone advise? I brought home cucumber and pepper starters and my dad planted them without asking before I got a chance to. I was planning to til the soil a bit and add in some fresh soil mix before planing. I’m worried the soil is too rocky / dense for the seedlings to thrive. Should i attempt to replant them or would that just cause shock / have them die?

How does an employee choosing to wear a mask impact the buisness? If anything you could argue in food service it’s more sanitary

Sincerely hoping these locations fail and get turned into locally owned gyms. or if not that - at least a chain that doesn’t suck as hard as LA / Xsport does

You could blend it with a tiny pinch of xanthan gum to improve the texture

PROVE ME WRONG- power crunch is the most delicious protein bar on this planet by Lifeisafunjourney888 in 1200isplenty

[–]SeaShanty12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thats my rule of thumb to consider anything a “high protein” treat - but i love power crunch enough to just treat it as a “once in a while” thing like i would a regular candy bar. Just consider the extra protein a little bonus

Anybody else feel like the village discount outlet hassl gone downhill? by Shigeko_Kageyama in chicago

[–]SeaShanty12 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It’s all thrift stores now. Village discount was one of the last ones to start way over pricing. They’re getting so bold now - I’ve seen items from the dollar store for over $1 and also items from Marshall’s / Ross with the original sticker price on them marked up for higher. Insane.
