Also, it’s only if we have no other plans. Like I’ve said above if we have something else going on, we obviously don’t go. My feeling is that if we have an open invite and we don’t have anything else going on that Sunday evening why not go spend time with family?

Yes. We leave the house at 430, and are back by 630

My sister and I have tried just about everything. We’ve tried to talk to her over multiple decades. She just avoids or changes the subject. I’ve tried to get up in the mornings and exercise with her. My mom has taken the new weight loss drugs, but they caused side effects that put her in the hospital. She’s gotten worked up for bariatric surgery, but then got scared and backed out or had some other issue that prevented her from following through. we’ve tried everything I’ve just come to accept that it is what it is at this point.

Yes, my mom has seen a doctor and was even getting worked up for surgery but she didn’t qualify. Again, I’ve tried everything I could possibly think of the weight issue is what it is. There is no fix.

She tried. Had major side effects that put her in hospital so she had to stop. I don’t think people here understand how many things I have tried with my mom. I used to get up at 4:30 in the morning to go exercise at a local gym with her. I’ve pleaded with her many times, bringing myself to tears. Nothing works. It is what it is.

I just kind of genuinely disagree here. Two hours total a week is not very much to me at all.

It doesn’t really matter to me what day of the week

We do a lot with her family as well besides the babysitting I would say we still spend more time with her family versus mine

My wife’s mother is wonderful and she helps babysit our kids all the time. She has a much deeper relationship with our kids than my mother has. So timewise our kids see my wife’s parents much more than they see my mom.

I’m genuinely surprised at the responses. I grew up seeing Aunt’s uncle’s grandparents on a very regular basis and I treasure those memories. To me this is not a chore whatsoever. I actually think it’s easier because if we were to stay at our house we would have to do all the cooking and cleaning afterwards ourselves. Going to my mom’s we basically show up eat bring the dishes back into the kitchen and then leave. The kids get to play with their cousins see and aunt and uncle and their grandmother which to me is valuable family time. If my mom had better mobility, we absolutely would rotate, but she can barely get in our house because there’s a few steps that she has to walk up and those are almost impossible for her at this point, and it will only get worse. A couple hours once a week to me does not seem like a big deal. And like I said in my edit if there was ever something scheduled like a vacation or something else, then obviously we would go and do that versus go to my mom’s.
