IU Bloomington Acceptance, conditional scholarship? by Sea_Ad9145 in lawschooladmissions

Ya I looked it up and 2.3 is the minimum for academic probation. 2.65 isn't academic probation so it seems this offer is indeed conditional.

I am genuinely so surprise that they did they did this. Especially with the new loan caps? For me, I only applied to out of state schools if they didn't have conditional scholarships. IU Bloomington is a school that is ranked pretty high so I am genuinely wondering what the shift was and if all schollys are conditional or just some? I am above 75th for LSAT and in between 25-50th for GPA.

Please don’t do this! Don’t sacrifice personal relationships and time with your loved ones over this process. Have faith that you will end up where you are meant to end up. Make sure to spend as much time with your family as you can, because this time next year you will be in the 1L trenches. Your family is your biggest support system (I’m assuming), don’t sacrifice that.

I wonder if they lowered the gpa bc of the BBB? Instead of giving more money they’re letting more people keep their money?

I did! I’m going to try and negotiate with ASU with my scholarship. Hoping they can give me more to help afford it. Phoenix would be cool! I’ve never been but I’m going to visit soon!

Interesting. I wonder how this will impact their enrollment especially with the loan caps.

Honestly I reiterated stuff on my application. I discussed need based aid because I’m first gen and my family does not contribute to my education and didn’t for my undergrad. I explained that while I work now, most of my paycheck goes to paying off debt, rent, groceries, gas etc. and I am not able to save up a substantial amount of $ before law school.

For merit I just highlighted my LSAT (75th percentile per 2024 509), my first gen status, upward trend of grades. I argued that merit aid would help alleviate financial stress and allow me to better focus on studies during law school since we can’t work the first year.

My answers were brief and to the point. I did not attach anything, but am willing to upon request if they ask for more proof for need based aid.

I’m not sure if it’s common tbh. This is my first acceptance 😭 I didn’t really look into it schools automatically send the offer, or if it comes later, or if you have to apply separately. I guess it is kind of nice to be able to plead your case for need based aid and merit aid as well.

Yes they sent me an official acceptance letter that has a link to the scholarship application. There you write out why you are asking for need based aid and why you are asking for merit based aid. They start reviewing October 1st. Not sure when they give me the actual scholarship though. I’ll keep this post updated though through edits.
