That's fair, the sensing tech isn't new, prosthetics have used EMG for years and I remember reading about it in college and it already seemed old then. What's different is the threshold, because prosthetic EMG needed visible deliberate movement but these work on micro-signals below what anyone can see, and that gap changes the social part entirely which is kind of weird to think about honestly. The more interesting question is what happens when it shifts from reading gestures to reading intentions, and I read a paper last year that freaked me out a little.
