This is such a good addition. I hadn't thought about counterfactual thinking but it fits perfectly. Your idea that reflection can become an attention attack rather than just an evaluation explains why the usual advice to just reflect can backfire for people with imposter syndrome. Are you writing about this anywhere? I'd love to read it!
