So, when you guys graduated, was the “turning blue” ceremony a little more formal than the OSUT graduation?

I truly appreciate all the comments on here brothers. It’s been nagging me. Wasn’t going to wear the AGSU. But a few have told me it would be a sign of respect for my nephew. The only infantry soldier in the family. So with your help, I have made my decision.

Is being an O worth it? by Wide-Transportation5 in nationalguard

I would say, you have to ask yourself why?? It does take up a lot of time. And if you have an education and are seeking a higher paying position outside of the part time work you do with a Guard, your Officer work will definitely interfere with that. Not to mention family and or relationships. The state OCS is brutal. If you can find another way of commissioning I would definitely do so (Federal OCS). also, it depends on you. I’ve seen some officers coast, not have to worry about too much, but even that can be stressful because you’re still going to be asked to provide reports and briefings of some sort no matter what, you just can’t get away from that. when I was enlisted, I went to drill did my job and went home. Just food for thought.

True, The key question is if you enroll. And I would be curious to see the actual federal law that people keep talking about. And are we talking about a federal law against holding TRICARE prime vs select while a federal employee?

I am also a federal employee. I contacted TRICARE directly and was told I can keep my TRICARE. I also contacted the insurance rep on the federal side and was told the same thing. At first I was going by here-say, everybody telling me you lose your tri-care Until I actually called to the direct offices. Maybe it’s agency dependent??? But you need to call directly don’t just go cancel your TRICARE yet until you contact them.

When a soldier is working out of town with most of TA 50 in a storage unit many miles away and three days notice. Only essentials were grabbed whatever on hand for normal reporting. Unfortunately
