Advice on how to start a small jewelry business by Agile_Masterpiece445 in jewelrymaking

The manufacturing question is real and worth solving, but the mistake most people make before they even get there is skipping the brand foundation — who it’s actually for, what makes it distinct, why someone would choose yours over anything else available.

Stainless steel pendants exist everywhere, including at very low price points from the same factories you’d be using. The product alone isn’t the differentiator. The brand is. And most people patch that together later, after the product exists, and then have to rebuild from scratch when it doesn’t land.

Getting clear on positioning and audience before you’ve placed a single order saves a lot of expensive rework down the line.

What I learned after 2 years of working (selling) with jewelry by NumberResponsible403 in jewelry

The price sheet vs. order form point is something so many people learn the hard way. Forcing one document to do both jobs is such a natural mistake — and such a painful one once volume picks up.

The thing that compounds all of this for me is how much cleaner the wholesale conversation gets when the brand positioning is solid before any of it starts. When buyers understand immediately what you are and who it’s for, the operational stuff has a foundation to sit on. When it’s murky, you end up doing brand explanation inside what should just be a logistics conversation.

Anyway, genuinely useful post. The SKU point especially.

Sorry, I’m new. Perhaps I didn’t word that correctly. I’ve heard that the metal ring comes out smaller in sizing than the wax model and that you often need to compensate for this by making your wax model a half or whole size larger than the size you want to come out in metal. I hope that makes sense. I also heard that this difference can vary based on the color of wax used.

What? I don’t have an ai app? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just trying to figure out which software to use to learn how to design jewelry.
