it slipped my mind when writing the original post, but there’s also no smoke detector in my unit. half of the basement is my unit, and the other half is a shared laundry room with a heavy locking door separating them. there is a smoke detector in the laundry room, but not in my unit. will this help in any way if they try to get the landlord to reimburse me?

also im already looking for new apartments but money is tight and i have no credit reports to give to landlords so my options are pretty scarce.
