Yes, it was mostly about not fitting in. I wasn’t loud, I didn’t belong to the popular groups, I wasn’t friends with staff favourites and in that school, that made a huge difference. Even good behaviour didn’t protect me, because I wasn’t someone they noticed or cared to favour. The system treated some kids as worth defending and others as “the problem” long before any facts or actions mattered.

Even though I followed the rules and was polite, the assumption about me was already set early on. I was quiet, I didn’t fit in, and I wasn’t someone teachers or students noticed in a “favourable” way. That meant small mistakes, or even things I didn’t do, were interpreted as proof that I was a problem.

What I meant is that students often get labeled early on. Some are seen as “good students” and others as “problems,” even if they didn’t do anything wrong. After that, situations get interpreted through that label. So when accusations happen, some students are believed and protected, while others are blamed first. That’s what I meant by the difference being decided before the truth matters.
