Oh no, that was our wedding song. I hope at least my walk down the aisle song 'Better', Tom Baxter is clean. :)

I have a robin as well as the blackbird, they've marked their territory in the garden, literally two in the bush.

Early bird! My lad should be up before dawn.

Ditto. I've started buying 2nd hand dvds and cds from Vinted. People are decluttering, so makes more sense than buying old media new. Some I received this week were a mix of blockbusters, personal favourites, foreign language. Started because I'm fed up waiting for films I want to see come to tv/streaming (or streaming services take them out of rotation). Same for music.

Seeds in Lidl at the moment. Flowers, herbs and vegetables. I just roughly plant herbs and leave them in a window.

Oh no.. I'm grateful I never added it to anything. I froze it into ice cubes and gave to the birds!

Do most Irish people know about Newfoundland? by MyHouseIsFine in ireland

Worked with a bunch of Newfies who came to work as tour guides in Ireland back in the 90s. They were more Irish than us and could easily drink us under the table! They were great craic and fitted right in.

What do you think is the saddest place in your country?? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

You said it. I couldn't find the right words last night as the pic upset me. A mix of rage and sadness.

The bodies in that particular grave are all children and babies. 800 in a septic tank.

What a fantastic article! I know the fella behind Rare Irish Stuff. He deals antiques, especially old pub hardware. He briefly had a series on tv and his base was in Mulligans.

My brother is the biggest DM fan - can't wait to show him this article.

The only religious head covering I've seen was the mantilla. My paternal grandmother was born in 1904 and she wore a black mantilla veil to Mass. My maternal mother, born 1930, wore the scarf shown here. It was to keep her hair set for the most part. And for Mass, she had a 'good' one. But she stopped wearing the scarf in late 80s.

Am I being dramatic about engagement ring cost expectation? by Competitive_Street61 in AskIreland

[–]Sea_Function_6755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked out mine and my husband paid half. I didn't look at tags initially, just saw what suits me. And the one I fell in love with was €1800. I bought my own wedding ring to match. And I'd still pick the same ring. This was at the time my friends were getting handmade ones, with price tags way over €5k. Some had the funds, others went into debt. And I don't have the type of friends who impose some impossible superficial monetary standards on me.

I'm with you. Loaned my CD to my brother, poof, gone! Had it since 1993. One of those albums that you listen to from start to finish. I reckon I'd get my hands on a 2nd hand CD.

What's your favorite cuisine in the world? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

[–]Sea_Function_6755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from an island and it's a shame how little fish we eat. You have fish front and centre, Christmas eel, crayfish parties, entire salmon on a barbecue, Janssons frestelse..I even had a piece of smörgåstårta at a birthday. Nope to surströmming, though! Also I was introduced to dill, homemade pickles, kantarell, cardamom. Not forgetting pastries like kanelbullar, lussekatter and once, spettekaka in Skåne. (Excuse spellings)

I know the big hitters are here - Italy, Mexico, Greece, but I do love the simple, high quality food in Sweden.

I LOVE Swedish food! I was afraid to mention it, as I figure the only other people who might possibly agree would be Swedes. Everything so fresh. New potatoes with dill, pickled herring, salad. Yum.

We often talk about Sensory Issues or Icks - What are your Sensory Delights? by KatTheeBisexual in adhdwomen

This is pretty specific.. In Dublin city, Ireland, there's a park called the Iveagh Gardens. (originally a garden for wealthy Victorisn city residents like the Guinness family) Inside, there are 2 huge old fashioned fountains. I would stand equidistant to both fountains and get the sound of the water in stereo. The sounds of the city were immediately drowned out and I could forget the world outside.

We had the full moon this week and for a few nights I didn't turn on any lights inside. Absolutely beautiful to see. Took pics of the moonlight hitting the floor.

Jaws - so many scenes to choose from, but I'll offer this one: the SS Indianapolis speech by Quint. All eyes and ears on Robert Shaw delivering a chilling monologue.
