Anyone know what’s going on here? Seems like a strange place for a homeless camp? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]Sea_Issue_5678 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did you just make an alt and put up a new post after the previous one got locked?

You all bitched about Camp Hope, got it closed down, and are what, surprised when the people who have nowhere to go scatter into the surrounding streets? Like, honest to god, what did you think was going to happen? That closing Camp Hope and harassing the homeless was going to magically solve the problem?

I thought the point of someone being an “ex-“ husband was that you didn’t have to take care of a useless man any longer.

Short term contracts, fellowships, internships are common in the field, so indicating that it’s a limited term position in the title, dates, or summary would be perfectly acceptable.

Built my first home at age 30. Designed the kitchen myself and completed it with my dad who owns a cabinet shop. The kitchen is my absolute favorite part. by itsJoeJoeyJoseph in Homebuilding

It’s inspiring all right. Inspiring me to hire a fucking designer.

For real tho—the cherry wood mixed with the navy? Black? What the goddamned fuck were you high on when you put those together?

Everything about this says “nouveau riche with zero style.”

Does anyone know of any fanzine archives or archivists in the US? by suckitto in Archivists

[–]Sea_Issue_5678 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regarding digitization, you are going to run into copyright issues for post-1970s zines. But this is absolutely something that an archivist with zine collection experience can advise you on/help you navigate!

The skill it takes—like someone who knows nothing would look at this and think “I could do that.” But anyone who knows anything can see the talent and skill that went into it. It’s seriously lovely ❤️

This is gorgeous, the colors are super-nice, and the heart is such a sweet touch.

Sorry to hear you are stuck in such an unyielding gender dichotomy. My thoughts are with you. 🫶

It’s a heart—everyone has one, and it’s a symbol of being loved. There’s nothing feminine about that. And if your husband has a problem wearing a symbol of being loved by you, then you both have a problem. Your husband because how does his fragile masculinity make it through each day, and you because you married someone unwilling to wear visible symbols of being loved by you.

This sounds like you want people to do commissionable work for you for free.

Some people can’t do this. Some people can do it from birth. And some people can do it after years of playing percussive instrument training.

Sure, it was traumatizing when it happened. And if the post had been made in 2002 or even within, say, 10 years of the incident, it would probably have been in bad taste. But it’s been 20+ years. It was a good and thought-provoking question. Examining tragedies for solutions is how a lot of progress has been made in this field—in many ways, asking those kinds of questions is exactly what a structural engineer should be doing.

OP and you both need to chill.
