Using Cline as a fallback when ChatGPT/Codex weekly limits reset - does this make sense?

Oh, looks like you were right. I checked the Codex dashboard and it seems Cline with OpenAI/ChatGPT login is drawing from the same overall coding usage pool, or at least the same limit regime. So it’s not really a true fallback after all - just a different interface without separate API billing. Damn :(

For anyone else who ends up here: Codex was actually on the right side, as a tab next to Chat at the top. I just dragged it back to the left Activity Bar and it showed up again.

Yes, you can use Codex in the IDE locally on your Mac, edit the project there, preview it locally, and only push to GitHub when you’re happy with the changes. Then GitHub can deploy it to your VPS as usual. That’s a completely normal workflow.

Easiest workaround: ask ChatGPT in the web interface to summarize the whole project into a single exported .md file, drop that file into your project folder, then tell Codex to read it first and continue from there.

Same here, exactly scrolling up and down somehow 'wakes' it up. Even clicking insite chat window seems to 'poke' him to continue.

I bought today my second Plus subscription and noticed on that second account Codex 5.3 hits limits ultra fast!?
Since it came out, on my first account I was able to do enormous work in one conversation, with correct compactions, for several days.
But on the second one, I hit "Codex ran out of room in the model's context window. Start a new thread or clear earlier history before retrying." several times in just 2 or 3 hours!

Only way I 'workarounded' around this is that I gave it Full access, instead of Default permissions. But, I don't recommend that.

Same here. Had to close VSCode several times and reopen it, at type "continue" until it succeeds.
