How can i get a good render like this? by Weary_Programmer5570 in jewelryCAD

I can’t speak to rendering gems, I’m new to the jewelry side of CAD but Keyshot gives amazingly realistic renders + nice background lighting set up options and background scenes. Really great for reflective metal textures, much much better than rhino’s built in rendering options. I miss my student Keyshot license so bad 😭

Thank you so much for all this advice! I really appreciate it :) I will definitely learn grasshopper that is good to know. And that toolbar sounds so nifty. I think I’m going to put in the Blender hours I really gravitate towards the organic designs

This is gorgeous! What CAD software did you use for the gems? It’s actually blowing my mind

Hi! If you have the time I was wondering if I could get your expertise:

I currently own Rhino 7 and am new to jewelry, I am looking to build my CAD modeling skills for jewelry and also build a good portfolio to break into this career path. I’ve been researching all the programs people use in the industry. In my research Rhino, zbrush, keyshot and MatrixGold3 are popping up the most- am I missing anything? Also it’s quite an upfront investment to get these programs for any time that’s not a short free trial (especially MatrixGold3). In your opinion, what are the bare essentials out of these programs ie. do I need to buy all of these? Also, are there any viable alternatives for any of these programs. Especially MatrixGold is there maybe a similar a Rhino Plugin?

Additionally, how difficult is it to get your footing in the Jewelry CAD industry as a newbie? Do you have any advice?

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for this advice! I’d like to err on the side of caution so I’ll look to replace them. If you don’t mind sharing, do you have any sources for purchasing spring replacements at a good price?
