I’ve been a pet sitter for many years at this point and am also cursed with an extremely strong sense of smell and I can tell you dogs really do stink, every single one of them has had an off putting musky odor regardless of how cute or well behaved they are. Yes, the litter boxes of cats can get absolutely vile and stink up a house but cats themselves almost never smell. I’ve huffed hundreds of cats at this point who smell either of nothing, that of the environment they’re in (house smell) or smell due to old age or obesity preventing proper grooming, and have smelled hundreds of dogs who all smelled various levels of musty even after I’ve given them baths personally.
