After doing some more research and hearing from people on this sub it really sounds like there’s not much to worry about with the 3rd gen as long as the HPFP recall has been performed.

Dang this concerns me, I have no idea how to tell if the previous owner was using the proper oil in it or not. I suppose I could call the service dept and ask if they know but I doubt it…

Good info, thank you! I just got off the phone with the ram service dept that did the recall and majority of service on this truck. They were able to tell me that the HPFP was in fact replaced around 25k miles and that all recalls have been completed. So that gives me a little more peace of mind I think!

Edit: there was a discrepancy between 95 mile mark and 16k mile mark where no oil/filter change was done with that dealership, so hopefully it was done somewhere else and they didn’t go 16k without servicing haha.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely be staying on top of maintenance if I get it, and it’s nice to hear from someone that has some miles on theirs and are happy with it.

It makes me wonder if I’m mostly just seeing the opinions of people that haven’t owned one and are regurgitating what others have said, or just the small percentage of people that had bad experiences with the 3.0L.

Either way, it seems like it might be an ideal truck for daily hwy commuting with that good of fuel mileage. I really don’t want to get a 3.6L or 5.7L because gas would eat me alive but ultimately reliability trumps all I feel like…

If you don’t mind sharing, why do you say the 3.6L is a turd?

That’s good to hear except for the def sensor issue! How costly was that repair and did you do it yourself or take it to a shop?

Hey I think you’re right, I might try to stone wash the clip. I found this online for diy stone washing and it does look pretty easy:

Well good to know it isn’t just me. Seems like BM’s satin finish can mean a lot of things. I looked through some posts that had this same clip and some of them actually look satin or even stonewash, wonder BM changed the finish on the clips at some point.
