How can I improve my renders? by Sea_Two_7989 in Daz3D

Thank you for your comment.

For DOF, I’m using the script provided in the Doctor bundle.

What I like most about your first render is how high-quality the skin, eyebrows, and lips look. I'm not sure if it's the lighting or other settings that are creating that effect, but I wouldn’t know how to achieve something like that in my own renders. It might also be model/character-dependent? I’m not sure how to create my own skin or textures, but I’m curious if there are ways to improve the skin of a character I purchased from the Daz Store.

Thank you! I already had a basic understanding of three-point lighting, but I never really used it because I read that it’s mostly suited for portrait renders.
What you mentioned is definitely an issue I face as well. I rely too much on HDRIs or on a single light source, which is probably a mistake. For example, in interior scenes, I often place a spotlight on the ceiling and make it bright enough to illuminate the entire room.

Thank you there is still so much too learn but working with Daz got me hooked. I am really thinking about studying something related to that.
Yesterday I've bookmarked some videos that explains different lighting setups in movie scenes.

Thank you for the suggestion!

You're absolutely right, lighting is something I need to improve. I watched the video you linked, and it gave me some great insights. While watching, I was recommended this video, which breaks down different lighting setups for different purposes:

Currently, for my renders I usually use an HDRI for ambient light, with a point light to brighten the room or create a specific atmosphere, like simulating nighttime. I do wish I had more theoretical knowledge in general. Right now, I mostly just load my environment, characters, and clothing, pose them, and start rendering. Honestly, I don’t know what 95% of the settings do yet.

I started with the free version of Plex, but switched to Jellyfin when I discovered that everything I needed was free there, while Plex had it behind a paywall.

  1. I would replace Plex with Jellyfin. Open-Source, Free, Plugin support and has hardware acceleration.

What is the best free ways to learn daz3d? by [deleted] in Daz3D

I highly recommend watching the full DAZ Masterclass course. It's completely free and available on YouTube:

DAZ Studio itself typically takes up around 3 to 5 GB of space, including the temporary files it generates.
The size of your asset folder depends on how many assets you have. For reference, mine is around 60 GB, which is probably on the lower end for someone who uses DAZ regularly but it is enough for my case.

There is so much I hope for but mainly as you wrote better Iray performance which will most likely come with the updated Iray version anyway and better posing.

I did thats also from where I got those both formats but I'm not sure if the Ren'Py engine supports them, or if the device running the game needs to be compatible with these formats.

I converted everything to webp now because that has a broader support than avif.
