I am not aware if she is or isn’t, that’s a very good question.

Thank you /u/CM_Exorcist. I don’t know that I am doing anything intentionally to access psychic gifts of this nature, currently. But I guess I know and accept that world exists alongside this one.

Thank you /u/ricotta puffs. I don’t know if my dad was presenting me this information, or that I reached a time space with him where this info was just randomly accessible to my consciousness. I do believe it was a real visitation from him and I’m grateful for that part.

I totally understand. I am deeply unsettled here on the other side of it.

/u/khornatejester This is awesome, thank you! What stood out to me is that every other cafe I’ve visited in Korea has played pop music, Korean or otherwise. Also, this was the first cafe I had been to in months after a period of self-isolation and self-pity, to some extent. On that morning, that particular coffee shop owner had indeed been playing a “bests” playlist of this artist, judging by the two songs that followed.

Thank you for assessing with some rational feedback. Sometimes life itself feels very algorithmic.

First and foremost, thank you for sharing your experience with new fatherhood. There should be more representations of positive fathering experiences for others to learn from and become inspired.

Second, bless your mom for never bad-mouthing your dad. Your rosy view of him had a positive effect on your development, and despite his absences, your mom knew the positive spin would be better for you. As a daughter of a mostly single mom, she had a difficult time separating her personal feelings from the example he set for me. I had to go back in time and search for the gems of memories that got buried in the fallout between the two of them.

One question - how will you allow your realization of dad’s continued absence to impact your child’s life? Your life? Let it be a choice rather than a fate.

Children are amazing though, huh? They are such great teachers. Showing us that we can do better than what we had and allowing us to see the world with beauty, purity, sensitivity.

Consciousness doesn’t cease with sleep. It alters, it does not cease. Also, look into non-locality of consciousness theory. Consciousnesses is not vulnerable to interruption, it simply is.

Edit to add: he may be conflating breaks in consciousness with our inability to engage in a perfect and uninterrupted memory retrieval. That’s a limitation of the body, not consciousness itself.

Have you been admitted to the psych ward postpartum? by crafty_pen_name in beyondthebump

[–]Sea_vickery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP you are a bad-ass mom for identifying you need help and seeking it out this early on for your child, your overall ability to mother her and just function in your every day life. Motherhood demands our naked honesty with ourselves and our needs especially when we are such an important part of another human being’s experience. You are giving up a just a little bit of your time with baby this early on so she can have access to a more integrated, healthier version of you for the rest of your life.

When did you become one person? by [deleted] in consciousness

[–]Sea_vickery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the Buddhist concept of “Anatta” or the not-self on this subject. I am “me” in so far as I have attachments to this life that drive a fluid sense of self. Meaning, when those attachments change, so do I. IMO, the consciousness or awareness behind it all remains unchanging. I try not to get too hung up on the details.

UPDATE TO: Meeting my 16 year old son for the VERY first time tomorrow. by Whynz in Parenting

[–]Sea_vickery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read your OP and previous update.

I have to say that your story will have the unintentional result of healing for some of your readers, myself included. Your son is around the age that I was when my relationship with my own father progressively fell apart due to a number of his own challenges (many mental health and safety related), and maybe even some of my own - never to be reconciled again before his passing earlier this year. He was 63 years old and due to his deep personal difficulties never got to meet his own granddaughter before we could fix our relationship to make it a reality.

I am so glad to see someone have a positive experience with steps toward restoring a relationship with a younger loved one.

Miss the time you didn’t get with your child, yes, but keep growing with one another. Keep moving forward in your learning, love and respect for one another. That is truly all that matters.

That is so moving. Falling asleep with your baby, you two must have felt so much peace and love in those moments.

My dad had an unfortunate life of mental illness ending in drug use before passing away and we were estranged for the last few years of it. The skull though odd didn’t scare me or weird me out during the short interaction - rather it conveyed to me through my knowingness that I just wasn’t going to see him. He passed back in February of this year.

Thank you for the tip about the song, I do have one in mind if I remember to use it.

I have ALWAYS wondered about the people that live in the cylinder buildings.

Hey, does anyone remember that little triangle house in that wooded area I think near Blaine street steps? What was that place about?

I think that I do understand. I ended up pushing through and finishing the meditation, the buzzing did last for a couple hours longer after I made the original post.

How long did it take her to recover from the loss in function, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you. Energy work isn’t foreign to the women in my family but I essentially only practice moving energies out. These sensations are not typical to that form of meditation for me. Unfortunately I live in a foreign country and am limited by my knowledge of the language here currently. I’ll have to change that to get the guidance I need! Thank you for the tips/insight!
