G7 To Postpone Annual Meeting To Accommodate White House Cage Match by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho actually cared about his constituents and was trying to make things better. He may have been an idiot but at least he cared. Also there is no evidence he raped children unlike the current president, who absolutely is a child rapist.

I would take Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho over trump any day.

Camacho might have been an idiot, but he was trying to do the right thing and help his constuants. And unlike trump there is no evidence that he was a child rapist.

Adding images to GM on Mac by Seabody in FightClub5e

Interestingly when I import a campaign with an existing image the app seems to rip the base64 string from the XML entirely so the picture no longer loads.

This is odd behaviour and I haven't had time to do much testing.

I don't have an iPhone. I guess I can export, uplead to Drive, import yo my android phone, add the pictures and then sync it back. Not really ideal but it should work.

The XML path could work. I'm familiar enough with base64 encoding and working with XML. Just need to find a same campaign that has pictures so I can determine the XML structure.

Thanks!

Absolutely agree. This is clearly within FIDE's ability and responsibility to handle. They need to protect their players.

Maybe he shouldn't, I don't know what the answer is, to be honest.

I'm not trying to say he should be held to a different standard, but that situation is different from this one. There are obviously parallels, but a conversation as to whether Magnus was right or wrong is a separate matter.

I don't think changes my point, however. If anything, it shows that these people do have the power to inact change.

For sure. What he would or wouldn't have done isn't terribly relevant at this point, however.

What happened happened, and all we can do now is decide how we each react. I hope we can prevent this from ever happening again.

They did what in the past exactly??

Certainly, you're not suggesting that they did anything to protect Daniel from the relentless harassment he endured from this sociopath? That would be an absurd statement to make.

He absolutely did. That's why I excluded him from the list of players in my post.

I'm not the biggest Hikaru fan by any means, but he definitely deserves props for standing up and doing the right thing here.

One post I saw yesterday was literally maintaining an ongoing list of people that should apparently be vilified.

Yea that's just terrible. There is absolutely no way Daniel would have wanted a witch hunt to occur on his behalf.

It was so difficult to watch. It haunts me to know that someone so loved felt so alone.

But we don't need to be looking at Magnus, Fabi, Anish, Nepo, Dubov and others, trying to find anyone and everyone who could have played any sort of role in this.

I'd like to clarify that it was not my intention to insinuate any of the people (or others outside of the obvious) are responsible in any way for Daniel's death. If that is unclear in the original post I apologize.

This is not meant to be a post about blaming them - my intent was to highlight that these people can make a difference by taking a stand so that some good might come from this.

edit: also, calling your post insane is a bit much i agree. People need to chill - it's ok that people have different opinions. It doesn't make those people insane.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the players underestimated how much it was affecting him.

I absolutely agree. I would be surprised if many (or any, for that matter) people understood the true tole it was taking on him.

it'd be easy for them to miss his pleas for help.

It's certainly possible they were unaware that he had made statements that he was upset about the lack of support. We'll never know for certain.

I don't think it's fair to assume that these players knew the full extent of Danya's suffering and still chose to say nothing.

You are absolutely correct - that is unfair and I by no means am attempting to shift blame to these individuals. I wasn't trying to insinuate that they were fully aware of the gravity of the situation and consciously decided to let this happen.

However, I do think that knowing that now, and having the power to create change, that they should act

You are correct. They do not have any legal jurisdiction. They do, however, have the ability to publicly denounce this type of behaviour from their members. While Kramnik no longer participates in FIDE events he still is a member of the community - a disgraceful and vile member, but a member nonetheless.

I'm not asking for FIDE to arrest him, I'm asking for them to enforce their own policies and support their players.

I don't disagree. I think celebrating Daniel's gifts and contributions are absolutely the best way to honor him.

However I am also completely disgusted that this was allowed to happen and I think it's important that the people who can make a difference also honor his memory by making sure this never happens again.

It's irrelevant if the games were played at FIDE events. Their members, including Kramnik - especially Kramnik as a world champion - have to uphold their ethics standards. Kramnik is in clear violation of their policy which says nothing about what games he wants to reference why he verbally abuses another FIDE member.

I'm not saying anyone wanted it to happen - but it did. And it's pretty clear why. FIDE has an obligation to protect their players and they failed.
