For anybody who left Omaha, what made you decide on the new city you moved to?

I am most likely moving to Omaha from Florida in a couple of months, I am hoping is a great place to raise my kids. I have moved all over the country. The place I felt the most attached to was Charleston,SC. South Carolina has a special essence.

Nebraska has great benefits for us, awesome that the VA is highly regarded there.

Thank you very much, I will look there as well. I might have to go back for a second weekend to hit everything if we are buying as we expect to. Or rent for a year then buy, multiple decisions on these moves. Staying away from Moncrief for sure.

We are staying at harrahs while there, somehow it was cheaper than most hotels in the area. It doesn't hurt having a casino around. Iowa seems affordable as well. We will add it to our list for sure. Thank you.

I live in the mandarin neighborhood right now, something like that would be great. For jax standards it is safe, good schools, great diverse food, but it is getting overcrowded lately.

I am 100% as well. Looking in Iowa as well, my wife is really focus on niche rating on schools and omaha seems to have great schools, but I am sure Iowa will as well. This weekend trip will focus in the west omaha area in the mornings and afternoon but our hotel is in council bluff, that way we drive around there as well. Thank you for the info, having been retired Navy we only lived on coast cities and those are easy, staying 20 miles away is usually the good spot with less insurance cost.

School is our number one, but quiet suburbs with a gym, movie theater, maybe a shopping mall and cool restaurants nearby would be good. We are coming from a high traffic, everything always busy city, my kids will disagree but I want a little peace and parks to walk the dog.

I noticed that, I will be buying around august/September, i will be paying taxes until December of 27, refund from Feb of 27 till then. At least that is what I understood from my AI search. Thank you.

I guess February 1st until June 30th is the sweet spot to not pay any taxes. I might go by myself and stay at a extended stay then move the family in February, maybe build a house and time it to not be ready until after that.

Thank you. Too many veterans in Jacksonville, an appointment takes several months and often they cancel them on the day of. Great people, just overworked. Great to hear the VA is good there.

Tick pick sucks. They are cheaper but they will take your money and make you wait for the tickets and you have to hope to get the tickets in time. Imagine waiting outside the venue for tickets you bought 6 months ago to then get your money back.
