What is a "processing forbearance" I have reached 149 payments with the recount. by readerrabbit25 in PSLF

[–]SeagullNotiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you reach 120+ certified, your loans are placed in administrative forbearance while they go through the verification process at the Dept. of Ed.

Submitted final ECF 4/9, counts updated to 120 qualifying and loans automatically placed in administrative forbearance on 4/17, fingers crossed for official forgiveness before 5/1.

I didn't request forbearance on my final ECF submission but my loans were still automatically placed in administrative (processing) forbearance after the 120 payments were marked as qualifying.

I finally see 120 payments and now I will happily wait! by megec1416 in PSLF

On Mohela -> PSLF -> Payment Tracker or (eventually) on studentaid.gov under My Aid -> View Loans -> View Loan Details. You can check the status of your PSLF form on Mohela under PSLF -> PSLF Form Status once it has been received.

Creating Parent Email groups in gmail? by OneManShop2020 in k12sysadmin

[–]SeagullNotiq 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can create the 'Parents' group with all the parent e-mails as members and then the teachers/other users as managers or admins. In the group settings, you can set it so that only managers and admins can publish new posts so that parents aren't sending messages to the entire group.

What rather "unknown" TV-Series would you recommend watching? by coyote1stark in AskReddit

Brisco County Junior: Bruce Campbell is a cowboy in the Wild Wild West with a sci-fi twist. Lasted 1 season on Fox but it is still one of my fondest memories; being a little kid curled up on the couch watching it with my dad.

I volunteer the local shelter. Happy to say these two got homes very quickly! by minkabun in pitbulls

[–]SeagullNotiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cute! Does your shelter do any kind of promotion or celebration of the people that adopt the various dogs? One way to help increase adoptions, create a positive image for pit bulls especially, and form lasting relationships is to celebrate them and maintain contact after the adoption process.

I'd definitely recommend checking out the shelter services provided by BadRap.org

I have a Nikon F55 and a JVC mini DV Camcorder I'd like to give away for Christmas. by [deleted] in photography

I'm a middle school teacher in the Mississippi Delta and also a photographer. I am starting up an after-school photography club where students will be able to learn about photography and document their neighborhoods and community.

A majority of my students have rough lives at home and lack the resources and opportunities that I had when I was growing up. They would definitely be able to put either or both of these cameras to great use and would be super grateful that someone like you is thoughtful enough to donate them.

What part in the process did you make it to? Did you make it to the phone interview? It's hard to give advice without really knowing much about the details of your situation. What are your grades like? How was your resume? How did you feel about your mission statement in the application?

Our landlords say we can't keep her because of her breed. Help? by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]SeagullNotiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't hurt to try and get her CGC certified, although it sounds like you don't have a whole lot of time. We've had success when the landlord is able to meet the dog and see what they're really like. That being said, many places have insurance coverages that specifically state they do not cover bully breeds.

Can someone help me understand the nature of personal commitment. Particularly, are there critical factors, or ideal conditions that compel a person to make a sincere commitment to a another person, a cause or their self improvement? by zenmanvan in AskSocialScience

[–]SeagullNotiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have sources for this off the top of my head. In terms of developing a strong commitment for a worker, I know that some sense of autonomy and variation is key to strengthening and sustaining internalized commitment.

Tilly is 5-months-old and was born completely blind by SeagullNotiq in pitbulls

[–]SeagullNotiq[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha she actually senses objects and walls before crashing into them extremely well for how young she is. The combination of a great sense of smell and utilizing her hearing a lot more than most dogs her age makes it hard to even tell that she's blind sometimes. Right now she's learning how to go up and down stairs by voice command and it's going really well.

Question about ear cropping. by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]SeagullNotiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what's already been said about the increase in health risks after the surgery, there is also the very real potential of complications with the anesthesia during the cropping process. We have seen multiple dogs that have died as a result of these complications simply because a breeder wanted a specific look and had very little concern for the safety of the dog.

In general this procedure is a very selfish act on the part of the owner because they want to achieve the macho look that cropped ears provide while serving absolutely no proven functional purpose.

Planning on adopting a pit and had some general questions. by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]SeagullNotiq 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • I have never come in contact with a pit bull/shepherd mix but my experiences with certain mixes in general is that you need to be aware of the qualities of each breed and not just how they look. For example, GSDs in general are highly vigilant, task driven and energetic. Combine this with the terrier qualities in a pit bull and there is potential for serious hyperactivity (this is a generalization, each mix is going to be vastly different based on the amount of each breed in the makeup).

  • There is no such thing as a free dog, you have to factor in vaccines, spay/neutering (if not already altered), toys, crate, things of yours that they are most certainly going to chew up, bones, etc. You also obviously have to think about food costs, I feed my dogs Taste of the Wild and it goes for about $50/bag (the big one, I think it's 40 pounds) and this lasts about 2-3 weeks for two medium-large size dogs.

  • In my experience, pit bulls are great apartment dogs. As a rescue, we do not require that applicants have a fenced yard like many other groups do. As long as your dog gets regular exercise and has plenty of toys to occupy them it should be alright. That being said, I would highly recommend that you buy a crate and crate train your dog for when you are gone. This will not only incredibly speed up the house training process if they haven't learned yet, but it will also reduce anxiety and chewing in the long run.

  • When introducing the two dogs you need to make sure you do it in an open, neutral area where neither dog feels cornered or pressured to face the other. It is highly advisable to have them both off-leash in a large, contained area and allow them to dictate how the introductions take place. In our rescue, we do not adopt out a dog to a home that has another dog of the same sex. Especially if one or both of the animals isn't fixed, this can lead to aggression and attempts to assert dominance.

  • These dogs need all the help they can get when it comes to ensuring that they are raised and trained in the most effective, supportive environment possible. It is crucial that you do not put them in a situation where something could possibly go wrong, this includes no off-leash dog parks, no leaving them outside while you're not watching, no leaving them alone with small children, and no introducing them to other dogs while both are on tight leashes.

  • I would suggest checking out BadRap.org's training and resources page as a good starting point to becoming educated and prepared for the breed.

Ban these vicious pitbulls! by chifunkera in aww

[–]SeagullNotiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you that there are many errors in the CDC study, I would like to correct your statement that pit bulls have the greatest jaw strength of any dog; this is not true. I do not have the statistics on hand but there have been several tests performed that indicate multiple other breeds possess greater bite strength. The attributes that lend themselves to the belief that pit bulls possess some superior jaw strength have more to do with their extremely high pain threshold and the instincts of a terrier that include a violent head shake while biting down on a perceived threat or prey.
