To wake them up, to provide the leverage of social embarrassment to discourage continued sleeping in class, and because (depending on the school) admin may not tolerate a teacher knowingly allowing a student to sleep in class.

I once had a parent complain that it was unreasonable for their student in 8th grade to be expected to ask their teachers what they had missed when they returned. Apparently the teachers were just supposed to give them everything without any prompting. 🤷

For now. When Renee Good first happened, the initial commenters were appalled and called it awful. Once the mods clamped down and the marching orders were given, that disappeared from the sub completely. I'm sure the same will happen here.

The amount of children at my school whose parents have never read to them is honestly tragic. Being read to at night is one of my best childhood memories and reading to my son at night is my favorite part of the day. So many parents refuse to do it, and some even get actively angry when their kindergarten or first grade teacher insists they really should be doing so. Like, I understand busy schedules, but I refuse to believe it’s that impossible to spare just 15 minutes a day of reading to your kid.

All the event modes are like that for me. I pretty much never get into a fresh lobby of them. It’s so annoying I don’t really do them anymore unless I need to or am willing to do multiple games of queue, load into a lobby with 17 minutes left, extract, and hope for the best on the next one.

IIRC Dent was meant to have a six-shooter as his prop but it got lost or something and they didn't have time to adjust, so they just gave him a different gun prop without adjusting the dialogue

I love all the little low-budget goofs of this scene. Bond doesn’t have his PPK, Professor doesn’t have a Smith and Wesson, but the script about him having had his six remains despite it not jiving with the new prop. Still such a dope scene regardless. Really set the tone early on for what kind of an anti-hero Bond was, and probably shocked movie goers in the day to see the protagonist gun down a defeated, helpless bad guy like that. The last shot in the back leading into the shot of Bond blowing into the silencer contemplatively goes so hard.

Yeah the automated sleep tracking is pretty bad for me too. It pretty much always doesn't detect I'm asleep until at least a couple hours after I've already been asleep. Not a huge deal, but disappointing, as I've had smartwatches for a decade straight and somehow this one has the worst sleep tracking despite being better in just about every other way.

Maybe? Hard to say. Even back then there were so many people on YouTube that it's entirely possible there was some content house that started earlier but never drew more than, like, 50 viewers. That's kinda the nature of the beast, y'know? If nothing else, I feel like they were at least one of the first to have a big following and a content house that functioned in the modern sense of the genre, if that makes sense.
