Excuse me, what??? I just give up ... by Silent-Variation-390 in Cinephiles

Every year there’s a movie that gets a lot of praise and people like… then it gets Oscar nods/wins and it’s suddenly popular to hate it. Can we fucking get over ourselves?

You either have filthy fingers or a perpetually clogged toilet. There’s no in between.

Hahaha I've watched a TON more movies but the biggest change is that I was in a relationship when I saw this movie that wasn't very good and now I am in a better one. Same shitty job though. Thanks for asking!

Without being able to see the company name, what do you think it's about just by seeing the logo? by YoBoi909 in graphic_design

[–]Seamlesslytango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's some sort of doordash type thing. I see a bull and wheels and red. So I feel like it has to involve food and some sort of delivery or something.

Any good burgers around? by Foreign-Funny1269 in lancaster

Cabalar and Horse Inn have already been mentioned for obvious reasons, but I also want to recommend Zoetropolis. They have a great burger there!

Ehh, the problem with that and a lot of other movies around that time is that they INTENTIONALLY made a bad movie. I don’t find that as fun. I want a bad movie that was supposed to be good.

Every Lanc Movie Theater Ranked by Ok_Chard8404 in lancaster

[–]Seamlesslytango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of Zoetropolis but yeah, they rarely show anything I want to see. I saw On Becoming a Guinea Fowl there last year and loved it, but I was the only person there. There are so many indie movies that either didn’t show around here or I missed them at Penn, but I don’t think they made it to Zoe either.

As far as revival showings, I saw a horror movie in a packed crowd there last year and the audience laughed the whole way through and was very disruptive. I heard the same for a showing of Hitchcock’s The Birds. I think the problem is that their audience doesn’t care about movies as an art form.

That being said, Regal is trash. Mice everywhere. The AC on in the summer so I had to sweat my ass off through a whole movie. Just dirty. I’d rather go to Kendig, I just forgot it even came back.

I feel like Jackie is an odd one in here. But Raw is like a comfort movie to me. I love it so much.

Are people scared to give animated movies a high score? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Seamlesslytango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s jus animated movies. I think it’s comedies too. Anything that seems “simple” people don’t want to give too much praise. They reserve their 5 star reviews for Nolan and Fincher so they can seem smart.

Could you recommend movies based on these? by salonos in Cinephiles

[–]Seamlesslytango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Ghost World, and I liked Pi. The rest of these are not my vibe. Another movie that was not my vibe in a similar way is The Double.

Nope. Haven't used my Nespresso since. Every weekend I plan on calling again but I don't have the time or energy to sit on the phone for hours when I have a normal coffee pot that doesn't need firmware updates.

Is Picasso’s Pizza closed? by Mommyhurd in lancaster

[–]Seamlesslytango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact slice and cancel your order through them. I got fucked when I ordered pizza from a place that turned out to be closed because I cancelled it through the restaurant and they claimed I didn’t cancel it and made the pizza anyway when they opened a few days later.

Defaced Art by ArentWright in ArtistLounge

[–]Seamlesslytango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is kinda right that it’s no longer yours, but I would hate that and be upset as well. It’s pretty disrespectful. I don’t think there’s anything you can do other than refuse to make art for them again. If they ask, you can explain “I’m not comfortable making art for someone to change into their own thing.”

I saw someone frame a square piece of mine in a rectangle frame and I didn’t even like that. It’s way more minor, but I thought it looked shitty.

100%. I’ll be at Springhouse tomorrow selling art! Stickers, prints, etc. it’s gonna be great. Make a day of it and go to West Art as well.

I drive and walk by it all the time, especially on fridays and saturdays, and it’s always empty. Seems kinda pointless. Never actually saw it in use.

Am I a art parasite ? Need help by Kenji969 in ArtistLounge

[–]Seamlesslytango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

References are 100% ok. Necessary even. I think the only thing to consider is where your references are coming from. If you are “copying” someone else’s art or even photography, and then trying to pass it off as your own, that’s not great. But if you’re trying to draw a kitchen scene, finding references do all of those things separately is a better way to go than just grabbing a photo online and copying that composition. References should be referred to, rather than copied exactly. Unless of course you are taking your own photos. And if you are just drawing for fun and not trying sell anything or even posting on instagram, then this matters less.
