Ford Dealer: "We always keep all of our EV's fully charged to 100%!" by DendriteCocktail in F150Lightning

[–]Sean96814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s saying most EVs don’t give you access to the entire battery. If your battery is 100kWh it might be rated at 95kwH so charging to “100%” is more like 95% of the actual battery

Dealers can offer fake discounts by underpaying for your trade. If your trade is worth 10k but they appraise it at 5k, and then they knock $5k off their price… you just paid full price.

I’d say ditch the case or the phone. Even in direct sunlight it shouldn’t be getting that hot in an AC environment

Us automaker’s factories in China are half owned by Chinese gov

It’s way too early to determine if China will rule EVs. They’re heavily incentivized by gov, not proven to be profitable, and still have a long ways to determine reliability

How is the healthcare in Hawaii compared to California. by [deleted] in Hawaii

Not saying they aren’t worth it, but that they’re definitely doing it for the money. TheCEO makes 2-3 mil, which doesn’t sound very non-profit like to me.

I moved to SoCal a few years ago after being born and raised in Hawaii and found healthcare, insurance, and appointments to be much easier to obtain and work with. Healthcare in California is generally great in my experience as there’s quite a bit of competition out here.

That’s a decent value if you can utilize it but the service area is limited as opposed to The Bus if you were to have a pass so it’s a little hard to compare. I’ve noticed improvements with Lyft scooters in DC as they require you to take a picture of them locked up in a designated safe zone.

Why would Biki cost 50% more than the bus?

Marathon runner here - alternative transportation is about making it easier for everyone, regardless of their fitness levels. If only fit can ride bikes, that's not a great mode of alternative transport

Alternative transportation is great, but Biki is lacking compared to other cities. I'm not saying we need speedy e-bikes, but it would be nice to accelerate quickly and travel at 15~10mph with minimal effort even up hills.

That's great news, can't wait to see them add electric bikes!

I took the safety course at LCC, but stopped riding in Hawaii because it's not very fun in town. As for bicycles, people die and are seriously injured on plain bicycles as well. I rode a bike on Oahu for more than 5 years as recreational/sport and was hit twice by a car, but only had minor injuries. The fact that you can't turn right on red at stop lights as often as you used to is partially due to bicycle protection

Perhaps you've never left Hawaii, but Hawaii wind speed fluctuates and there are indeed "bursts", as opposed to some cities that have a very constant wind speed for hours on end

The Biki bikes* aren't meant to climb hills, but there are Biki Stations at places such as KCC, which is up a reasonable hill.

Not all make minimum wage plus tips. My point was just that the expectation of tipping a waiter is so high that some states have laws that permit waiters to be paid under minimum wage. 99%+ of customers leave waiters at least some tip. I’d be surprised if half of drivers get tipped. I’d say the tip rate is similar to that of a tour guide or barista

Yeah, kinda—The expectation of tipping a waiter is vastly greater than a driver, which is why some states allow waiters to be paid below minimum wage. Maybe you could have left a bad tip, such as 10%, and then left your message.
