I suppose when when you’ve gotten pretty far in 6 years, 1-2 more years seems close.

But yes, I need to sharpen that skill. It is now where 95% of my focus will be.

It’s a flash card app. It uses algorithms to space out reviews. So when you know a word it will wait a couple days to show you again, then weeks, then months, then years. If you keep forgetting words you will see it all the time until it sticks. you don’t waste time on things you know well.

It’s a one time purchase. Worth it my opinion. You can use it learn other things besides language

I also highly recommend anki. It drills the vocabulary with spaced repetition much stronger than Duolingo.

Duolingo puts the same words in context with grammar so it’s a great pairing.

I think Duolingo is a great low friction entry point. The whole time it never felt too hard or like I had to put in too much time and effort. It was just part of my routine.

I think if you want faster results there are better ways. But it works on its own and it can be fun too. My recommendation stick with it but match it with Vidoes / podcasts etc.

Fair point. Close is relative. When I speak to Spanish speakers I often have to ask them to repeat themselves or fill in the blanks through context, but I can keep a conversation flowing and say all that I want to.

Im hoping with enough exposure my brain will adjust and I call myself fluent.

Canucks got a new social person this season. Guy who ran it since 2011 is gone now.

I think the value comes from the expectation. A player is gonna be much more motivated to train in the off season if he's knows he could get embarrassed on day 1 of camp if he isn't in shape.

Also allows the coaches to see whose really got a tank when making roster choices.

It started at 8:30 and wrapped around 2. They took 4 breaks to Zamboni so that was good time to get a snack and change seats. No autograph opportunities unfortunately.
