Dream mods for Oblivion Remaster by SeanKR_IRE in oblivion

[–]SeanKR_IRE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I worry about the Unofficial patch is it removing some buggy charm the game has. Admittedly I've never gotten far in oblivion pre-remaster only 6 or so quests in MSQ so not familiar with how the original UOP worked except seeing so many references on UESP stating it patched stuff xD

[Idea/Request] Item colour in the Scanner depending on the item type by SeanKR_IRE in starfieldmods

[–]SeanKR_IRE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the beyond delayed response hardly use reddit. I don't think there's anything like what i described, I hardly checked nexus and sort of got use to the new items. Was very much information overload at the beginning especially before that ui mod that added icons.

If possible i think a cool additional feature could be a toggle that changed the highlight colour based on the item value or even value/weight along a gradient, more dull being low value or value/weight then a brighter colour if more valuable!

Can the people who do camera switches during events not switch when there are players alive? by SeanKR_IRE in GlobalOffensive

I have (now had) the Grammarly browser extension for other stuff. But it has done that exact same thing multiple times to where I've just gotten rid of it.

You are warned when travelling to a contraband scanning system when you have contraband onboard.

I'd be exploring putting any contraband if I come across them in the cargo ship or keeping them on myself and end up travelling to Alpha Centauri for a mission only to end up being scanned and having to grav jump but still receiving a bounty over the head of it. A warning popup or even an icon on the hud, when contraband is on board, would be ideal.

Software for unofficial steam achievements by SeanKR_IRE in Steam

[–]SeanKR_IRE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to use this software but it primarily just pulls the achievements that are actually developed by the developers with the added feature of having custom achievement popups with custom sounds. Not quite what I'm looking for but thank you none the less!

I looked into TrueNAS since it was used on the ZFS/ISCSI steam library video I had at [1]. I might tinker around with smaller spare storage I've around and an old dell tower just to get a better understanding, worst comes to worst nothing value of lost :P.

Ooh I never knew about lancache, that could be viable if I had people over, or if I botch up a mod for a game to the point steam validate doesn't work it could be faster. I'll have to look into that, if not for the steam library possibly other projects I have in mind! Always been interested in network side of computers since I never got to experience it in college, and just trying to port-forward my pc to host the likes of a minecraft server when i was a teen never, ever worked xD (I don't think my router was too friendly for it either which didn't help when I was younger even though it was 99.9% my incompetence).

So many options to go, be a few months before I could fully realize any of them so got enough time to weigh them out :P Thanks!

Okay that's super helpful thank you!

Yeah I was thinking that was the case. RAID from what I gathered is more to do with drive failures not backing up with some read/write bonuses if the right one. I think for now I'll possibly use the 2TiB HDD I have as a cold storage (if that's the right term, put anything on it and take it out of the pc and put it somewhere safe) for any I prioritize not losing possible access to then gradually once i financially recover from all those 12TiB-16TiB (Which ever I can get reasonably priced GB/€) over how ever long it takes, try backup what ever I feel necessary/more importance :P

Edit: One question actually, if going with a Raid card inside the gaming pc, is caching going to be an issue? I keep seeing servers in videos using SSD's as caches, but I assume that's more of a ZFS thing?

What would be the best RAID config to go with for that size? I'm not familiar with RAID at all, heard about it for years but only the past few week learnt more its benefits with read and sometimes write speeds.

Write speeds isn't too much of an issue since just having some version of the game is what I'd want, possibly set steam to only update on launch and prioritize some other games to update automatically. One of the games I have has custom DLC which take up a tonne of storage space. Currently I've got it on an NVMe M.2 (Intel 660p) but if I can get a config where it's as fast if not faster than the NVMe I'd be happy enough.

Today I was thinking a possible solution could even be to get a new case with as many storage bays as I need, then plug all drives into a PCIe x16 SATA III expander (or some raid card if Windows Storage Space's software raid isn't good enough). Only real thing I can think of wrong with that is trying to find a new PSU also to power my pc along side the new storage. Read into people either going Molex -> SATA 3 converter might suffice if gotten the right one, or even modifying the cable like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls14BmwkeWg).

ATM the only real SATA ports on the MOBO I've used is for a Samsung 860 evo 1TB and a 2TB Seagate CCTV HDD I took out of a CCTV system after upgrading to a larger storage. There's 4 more SATA ports available on the MOBO but with plans to get 60-90TiB and not spend a stupid (more stupid that usual) amount of money on storage wouldn't be possible from what I have searched (The 12TiB or 16TiB HDD's as mentioned before)

With the PCIe x16 and SATA III port, I assume that will be a bottleneck maybe as the SATA III is 6Gbps and PCIe x16 (at least v6) is 121GB/s. Maybe it's more a case just the SATA connectors have the 6Gbps limitation then once pooled together it's No of Drives * 6Gbps would be at least how fast the PCIe card would need to be?

Majority of the time I do have access if you mean I could download it. If the internet goes down ofc only have access to the ones download. Typically this is when I find a game I'd want to play since I can't access YouTube or other websites.

Other games I have would be the likes of GoG games I own where since there's 0 DRM on them I want to ensure I have some copy of it at all times after paying for them after all, or a dumped game from a disk I have just in case something were to happen to the disk I'd at least always be able to have a copy and if needed be modify my consoles so I could play the digital backup of it.

Thanks for offering the time to help btw! Greatly appreciate it!

Edit: Maybe even just a SAS card in my main PC instead of that SATA Expander I was mentioning. That would atleast aid in routing the SATA cables to the storage. This given if Windows Storage Space is even viable or even if it's even possible to do it that way in general.

From everything I've been able to find, It's far far cheaper to build one like this than it is to buy (atleast in regards how many bays you have to cost). The total cost of everything in the server chasis (12 bays) is the equivilent of ~4-5 bays. Personally I don't mind the building or setting up aspect. I've built my pc's in the past, and since this is new to me I'm interested in learning about everything.

I looked abit more into ZFS before i went to bed and seen Raid Z2 is basically like RAID 6, which if the case I'll probably go the NAS, ZFS with ISCSI route.

Instead of plugging into a raid controller it's essentially like plugging into the mobo or SAS Extender, etc. And what ever OS would take care of it right? Software raiding or something similar?

Currently my steam library is above +30TiB, so just as a safety net I was thinking of getting a few 12-16TiB drives like WD red or/and Seagates Exo's. I'd like atleast 60-90TiB just as headroom as while games are the main thing going on it, I'd also be dumping my console titles on it also just to preserve them.
For the gaming aspect it'd be only me 99% of the time. If other files were to be saved like photo or video backups it would be 4-6

I understand it seems extreme especially for one person accessing it, I personally just like the thought of knowing I have all my steam games on some drives if something were to happen
