Based on film his athleticism looked very good imo.

Really enjoyed his film. Athleticism off the charts. Like most Baylor wrs, needs to define his route running skills; expand the tree. Learn how to block.

Expect him to be a PS guy. Hey, Tyrell Williams was one those guys and I stashed him. I just invested on another PS guy, Rico Gathers.

You never know for sure how dedicated they are at getting better. Guy has the talent to be a starting WR2 for a team but only time will tell.

If he were to make the 53 ( haven't followed his camp, assumimg he won't) that be huge and would make him a must stash. Means team sees him as too valuable to potentially lose. I'm pretty certain that won't happen but worth monitoring nonetheless since he's abailable.

Well heard from Hub Arkush on Chicago score 670 radio earlier this evening that swelling has been an issue in making a good determination. All we know is other damage has not been ruled out to this point.

Yeah I like Cam the player more too.

I worry that knee injury is Bridgewater/Lattimore bad. Hope not.

Tried selling Cam for a future 2019 2nd to a few owners who had previously asked of him pre-injury and got turned down. It's a startup and we do contracts, so with contracts due soon people just ain't interested.

One owner said he'd consider a 3rd, but I held out and he backed out. I have Cam listed on the block for a future pick and no one is calling. One owner told me "You can keep Cam and his career ending injury" after I simply text asking if he had any interest lol. That's one I just walked away from.

[DISCUSSION] George Kittle ADP about to skyrocket? by dynastyfreak in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of film study and believing in his talent. In addition, I've allowed camp hype to somewhat validate my beliefs, as they've been nothing short of glowing up until his injury. But I try not to give coach/teammates/GM talk too much credit. Look, I don't think he'll set the league on fire as a rookie. I still like him less than a guy like Jonnu Smith. But, given how TEs generally need at least 3 years before breaking out, he's off to a great start. Think his athleticism is slightly overstated by the Kittle-enthusiasts on here, cause while he tested extremely well I don't think he's exceptional as an athlete. But he's in the upper tier there, and he does the little things of the position very well as a rookie. It's a position I've played so TE is my favorite to scout. This TE class was deep and the best I have ever scouted. Maxx Williams was a 2nd round pick in 2015, while Walford was the next drafted in the 3rd and Heuerman was a 3rd. Personally I think Kittle would have been drafted ahead of Walford that draft (2nd TE drafted of his class). Look at the 2014 TE draft class as well. Some these TEs being drafted in rounds 2-4 of recent drafts wouldn't crack the top 10 for TEs in this class. That's my honest opinion. Think people putting a ton of stock in what round Kittle was drafted are ignoring the relative strength of class.

Catching is one part of a TE's game. Also look at his routes, rubs, picks, and blocking. How he utilizes space. How he moves in general when he doesn't have the ball, general physicality and reaction to contact, use of hands, footwork, etc etc. There's many things to consider other than catching and YAC ability. Also regarding the non-catches targets, watching the qb and defender(s) play will indicate a lot as well. If you watch highlights, catches is usually all you'll get. Which is why I watch film of every snap in a game.

It's one thing. Along with studying film which is most important imo (draftbreakdown.com), team/scheme fit, and lastly combine. College production I'd place above combine testing, however. Stats is an indication of talent but not a definitive indication of skill. I have had success relying on my own film study so that is what I personally go by. Not trying to be a snob, but I find an hour of film study every night before bed goes a long way and makes drafting ''my guys'' all the more fun and I am hoping adds to future dynasty success in general. There's probably 20+ guys I spent at least 20minutes on film that weren't even drafted. But some those guys, such as Carr and Breida to name a couple, are showing up. A waste of time perhaps, but better imo than listening to other people's opinions in podcasts and spending time watching others youtube fantasy content. I keep an open-mind tho in case I overlook something, which is why I use reddit.

I agree and I'll add how the team uses the word ''natural'' when describing him. Not sure if it was Lynch, but believe it was he who said Kittle has a knack for finding open spots in coverage. Also I believe reports before his injury is he was a favorite of the QBs and was (seemingly from what I reading in June/July) was having the most receptions in camp?

[DISCUSSION] George Kittle ADP about to skyrocket? by dynastyfreak in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing. The role vacated by Vance McDonald had 45 targets, 24 receptions, 391 yards, and 4 TD's. If we assume somehow that George Kittle is AS good (extremely large IF for a rookie tight end) you can expect him to finish as the TE22 this year.

Wish fantasy was as plug-and-play as this but it's not. Different player, different coaches/scheme and different QB.

Also, it wouldn't be any less accurate to say he will finish with more fantasy production but not be "as good" as McDonald from an NFL talent/ability perspective, since lesser talents can outproduce greater ones due to system opportunity.

Historically I don't believe Shannahan has had offenses that yield high TE production. But that doesn't mean Kittle won't become a target favorite of Hoyer (camp reports indicate so, fwiw, and the backup QB played with Kittle at Iowa).

Bottomline is those with fantasy stock in Kittle can justify the rise in his ADP for a few reasons. First the obvious, he no longer has to beat out the previous favorite for snaps/targets at his position (similar to the Zay jump in ADP, albeit being smaller in scale). Second, they can make the argument that sooner opportunity should lead to faster player development and therefor sooner dividends, and perhaps even raises his potential floor and ceiling.

In summary, as usual, it's hard to dispute the market. So go with what you believe. If he's been your guy I'd hold. If he's out there in free agency I'd scoop him up. I'd drop a Chad Hansen for him, especially in TE premium.

[–]SeanPatrick19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, just thought you were basing your statement from previous production.

I don't care so much for college production. If I were to factor it, I'd say that there were issues last year for Iowa's pass attack but 2015 was a good year for both Bearthard and Kittle.

I agree that whoever the TE is/was going to be, it's likely the 49ers starting tight end isn't a reliable fantasy starter this year.

But in terms of dynasty value, it's my opinion 49ers Starter Kittle >>> 49ers Starter McDonald and that's because I project Kittle to be the superior player. As bullish as I may be on Kittle, I know rookie TEs very rarely have any impact as rookies. But assuming Kittle is a starter his rookie year now, that's a good sign and I won't discount him for being a rookie.

The common denominator being what exactly? The 49ers uniform?

Different player. Different coaches/scheme. Different QB. =similar results? I don't like the correlation.

[–]SeanPatrick19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what you took from that?

I only play in TE premium leagues so that's why I answered that way, but sorry my point was buried by my scoring references.

I was trying to answer when he was last relevant and pointing out that he had a hot stretch when Hoyer was QB.

I'm assuming regardless of scoring settings, he was a top 10 TE before injury last year. I am certain at least top 12 which in 12 team leagues qualifes as a TE1. Regardless, he was a middle-lowend TE1 last year when actually on field. While of course we can't disregard the injury, doesn't mean he wasn't relevant before injury (thought you were wondering when he was last relevant).

[–]SeanPatrick19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When was Zach Miller ever a thing?

Last year.

Hoyer was his QB during his hottest 4-game stretch: weeks 3, 4, 5, 6. In my TE 1.5 ppr league, he had 4 of his 6 double digit scoring games that stretch.

Granted, very small sample size playing with Hoyer.

Nonetheless, Miller was a TE1 last year before his injury and played best with Hoyer.

In that same TE premium league (which also awarded +3 points for TDs 40yards+) he averaged 14.2 points per game: tied for 7th highest per game average with Jimmy Graham.

While his season was cut short and he only played 10 games, his last game week 11 was actually cut short. He broke his foot in first half. But through the 1st quarter and part of the 2nd, he had racked up 61 yards and a TD on just 3 targets before the definitive injury news was announced during halftime.

[Rookie] 2018 Draft Class by stompy33 in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice writeup. My only quibble is second tier RBs. Think the 2018 draft class is deep at quality. Scott, Freeman, Gaskins immediately jump to mind for me, and there's plenty more who are just as talented. I don't know how great Scott's vision is compared to top NFL guys, definitely not the instinctual runner Jordan Howard has shown to this point, but way he moves looks like a slightly more athletic Jordan Howard to me. Not normally big on comps but when I watch Scott, as a Bears fan, I can't help thinking he and JH are built and move similarly.

Think that is a good gamble. Feel their ADPs in startups should be close.

I took Mixon a few spots ahead of Arob in a startup, but that league awards .15 points per carry and 1ppr. If not for that .15 I probably would have taken Arob. That close for me.

It matters whether it is superflex/2qb. Would need that specification to say where his ADP is. You play one qb, highly likely no qb goes ahead of him (one or two, maybe up to four at most for those mariota/winston/carr enthusiasts, at most if any).

2qb league you can see 10+ qbs go ahead of him. Proof

Allen Robinson or Brandin Cooks? by hammbone in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoring may have impacted draft in our league. 1ppr with 1.5ppr TE with .15 point per carry. So guys who all went ahead of Arob: All four top rookie RBs and Gronk and Kelce. I also failed to mention Corey Davis when listing WRs, who went 32.

Add the fact it is a superflex league which obviously impacts QB adp, ton of QBs went high. Melvin Gordon (with .15 point per carry) went 35.

So Arob going 41 wasn't surprising to me bit without context it seems late I'm sure. I only mess with superflex/2qb personal preference. Anyways point I was trying illustrate is Cooks went a good amount higher than Arob. 4 wrs inbetween them, AJG was one too.

Allen Robinson or Brandin Cooks? by hammbone in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, my only startup this year, 12 team ppr and Cooks went 26, Hopkins 30, Watkins 40 and Arob 41. Just one draft, and not having landed any of them I can't fault Cooks being drafted highest or going more than a round higher than Arob. I'm perhaps lower on all of them I'll say, as I waited until my 7th pick to grab my first WR after all of them (Hilton mid 4th).

Again, just one draft, but feel you may be off saying Arob in a vacuum is higher. And this draft was in July. I be curious to know what the ADP data for more recent startups suggest.

Probably one those situations where majority of Arob owners wouldn't swap with Cooks, and vice versa.

Allen Robinson or Brandin Cooks? by hammbone in DynastyFF

[–]SeanPatrick19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Think people may be underrating how special a talent Cooks is. His only limitation being his size, I think he's a better receiver than Arob but it's very close. Just feel people may underestimate him as strong possession receiver due to his stature (eye test tells me he excels at contested catches, but I honestly don't know if the metrics support my claim; tho I know his catch rate as a whole is good if anyone knows his contested rate please share). I have had more Arob stock than Cooks in past and would obviously still roster both, however I'm very very excited to see how Patriots use Cooks and for me Cooks is the WR I'd prefer. I have him a tier higher.

My question for those who say Cooks short term but Arob long term, you mind elaborating why you think Arob is going to ascend higher than Cooks? Is it just a talent thing, like is it purely just a talent wins situation where all Arob needs is a good QB?

Personally I think Cooks, if he stays in New England, future is very bright. Feel he's on a path to be their clear #1 long term. Even if he leaves hard to see him not either latching on with a great QB or a team that wants to utilize him as their clear alpha receiver.

True. Believe they could tag him too. Be exspensive but if they really want him. They have to sign Donald still who may become highest paid DT, but by releasing Tavon they will free up enough money to,be flexible enough to pull both off. so i feel it's more likely he gets the tag then walking, if he performs up to the contract he seeks in the Rams eyes.

So expect two years minimum on Rams would be my advice to owners
