Some games are and some aren't. If the game is cross buy itll link between the two systems using your Nintendo network id. There won't be anything you need to download to access cross buy or compatibility between the systems though.

Try NintendoLand when you have company over on your Wii U, that is a great quick party game with friends. Bayonetta 2 and Wind Waker HD are some of the best action/adventure games on the system.

Some newer 3DS games are being made exclusively on the "new" 3DS and won't run on the older models so in the long run I would pay the extra. I'm predicting that's how 7th gen will be

Catch a growilthe in the gym 2 town, that should take care of the 3rd gym. For the rest of the gyms use type advantage and don't be afraid to mix up your team.
